Peterman recently held a workout with the Lions, a source told Field Yates of ESPN.
EDGE Analysis
It was Peterman's first audition with another team since the Bills cut him loose Monday following a disastrous season-and-a-half-long run with the organization. Though Peterman possesses an ideal frame (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) for a quarterback and is just 24 years old, the tape he's put out thus far in his brief career suggests he's not a capable NFL backup or a developmental prospect worth keeping on a 53-man roster. If he finds a new home somewhere this season, it will most likely be as a member of the practice squad.

The Bills waived Peterman on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Peterman was horrendous in eight spot appearances during his two-year tenure in Buffalo, posting a completion percentage of 52.3, interception rate of 9.2 percent and three touchdowns on 130 career passes. With the impressive showing from Matt Barkley on Sunday against the Jets and the expected return to health of Josh Allen (elbow) in Week 12 following a bye week, Peterman was on precarious footing. The Bills made the logical move with their 53-man roster, even if it meant admitting defeat with the development of the 2017 fifth-round pick.

Matt Barkley will get the start at quarterback while Peterman will act as the second-string option, the Bills' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
That's now two times in one season Peterman has been passed over by a quarterback the Bills acquired off the street, with Derek Anderson (concussion) and Barkley earning starting roles after dismal games from the turnover-prone second-year player. Josh Allen (elbow) is expected to be back following the team's Week 11 bye, meaning Peterman could very well be the fourth option on the depth chart in two weeks time.

Head coach Sean McDermott would not commit to Peterman starting on Sunday against the Jets in the event that Josh Allen (elbow) and Derek Anderson (concussion) cannot play, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson has already been ruled out for Week 10, so he will not be an option for the Bills this week. Allen has not played in almost a month, and although he will get three days of practice in this week, he is not a lock to play, either. That would put Peterman in line for another start, but McDermott's comments at his Friday morning press conference leave the door open for Matt Barkley to start if Allen ultimately is ultimately ruled out as well. Expect more details on the Bills' quarterback situation to emerge in the near future.

Coach Sean McDermott said Peterman will only get another start if both Josh Allen (shoulder) and Derek Anderson (concussion) are unavailable, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterman tossed three interceptions during Sunday's 41-9 loss to the Bears, bringing his total to 12 picks on 130 career pass attempts. If nothing else, the Bills should have a decent chance to get Anderson through the concussion protocol in time for a Week 10 game against the Jets. There's really no reason to give Peterman another start, even if it means turning to recent addition Matt Barkley.

Peterman completed 31 of 49 passes for 189 yards and three interceptions while rushing eight times for 46 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-9 home loss to the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Peterman continued to build his case for the worst passer of all time, tossing another pick-six among his three interceptions to bring his career touchdown to interception ratio to 3:12. His line would have looked even worse if not for a one-yard rushing score with his team down 34-3 in the fourth quarter. Up next for the Bills is a Week 10 matchup with the Jets, and they'll certainly be hoping to have at least one of Josh Allen (elbow) or Derek Anderson (concussion) back by then.

Peterman's teammate Derek Anderson (concussion) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
This means Peterman will make his fourth NFL start. Given the Bills' all-time anemic passing game over eight games and the fact that Peterman can improve his career passer rating by throwing every single pass Sunday directly into the ground, you'd possibly need to be in a two-quarterback league with 30 byes instead of this week's six to have Peterman be even a thought on your fantasy radar this week. In fairness, he's shown enough skill at times to where there's a shot he'll show the Bills something against the Bears, in what might be a last chance to convince the team he's worth keeping around as Josh Allen's backup into next season.

Peterman will start Sunday against Chicago if Derek Anderson (concussion) is unable to play, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Josh Allen (elbow) has already been ruled out and Anderson remains in the concussion protocol, making it increasingly likely Peterman gets another start. The Bills signed Matt Barkley on Wednesday so the team will at least have two healthy quarterbacks available heading into Week 9.

Peterman's teammate Derek Anderson (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday while Josh Allen (elbow) has already been ruled out for this week's contest against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
While Adam Schefter already repotted that Anderson won't start this week, the Bills haven't publicly stated that yet even though everything they are saying indirectly implies this will be Peterman's show once again. The team also signed journeyman Matt Barkley on Wednesday, a pretty clear indication they're rolling with two healthy options for Sunday with Allen out and Anderson unlikely. If Peterman has another bad game, the national media will certainly have another field day at his expense since he's already tossed 10 regular season and playoff interceptions on a mere 85 NFL passes, including five in one half of football. The optimist following the Bills would say this will be a good final chance to see if Peterman truly does have NFL chops, as he showed in the preseason. The pessimist would wonder aloud if the best two quarterbacks that are healthy options don't even play that position between tight end Logan Thomas and the newly signed Terrelle Pryor.

Peterman is expected to start against the Bears on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peterman will start under center Sunday with Derek Anderson (concussion) and Josh Allen (elbow) both sidelined. The second-year pro entered Buffalo's loss to the Patriots in Week 8 with about a minute left to play in the fourth quarter, and managed to complete both his pass attempts against soft coverage to end the game. Peterman has looked notoriously interception-prone in each of his numerous starts, and will not look forward to an easy matchup against Chicago's Khalil Mack-led defensive front on Sunday. Buffalo's offense will be one to avoid in fantasy realms as long as Peterman remains the starter.
