Irving was released by the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
It's a bit surprising given all the injuries the Colts have suffered on defense, but he may not be back to his prior form after dealing with a major wrist injury and ACL tear the past two years.

Irving (wrist) has received first-team reps at inside linebacker during the Colts' first week of OTAs, the Colts' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Colts are currently searching for Jerrell Freeman's successor at inside linebacker next to D'Qwell Jackson, and, if OTAs are any indication, the frontrunners for the gig include Irving and fellow LB Sio Moore. Both of whom have seen the most first-team reps while Jackson receives rest. However, Irving is coming off of two injury-marred seasons; his 2014 season as a Bronco ended with an ACL tear, and a wrist injury ended his most previous campaign with the Colts. Fortunately, head coach Chuck Pagano reports that Irving finally looks like he is completely over his blown-out knee from two seasons ago. If this is true, Irving should be viewed as the favorite to win this competition.

Irving (wrist) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) sidelined, Irving took on an increased workload in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. If Freeman isn't ready for Week 14, Josh McNary and/or Sio Moore could step in next to D'Qwell Jackson at inside linebacker. The 27-year-old Irving is signed through 2017, and he may be stuck behind Jackson and Freeman again next season.

Irving (knee) played in Thursday's preseason game and had one assisted tackle.
EDGE Analysis
It was Irving's first preseason game as he's coming back from ACL surgery. Irving should be the top backup at both inside linebacker spots now that he's shown he's healthy.

Irving is progressing well in his rehab from an ACL injury, the Colts' official site reports. "He's ahead of schedule as far as the rehab goes," coach Chuck Pagano noted of Irving earlier this month. With that in mind, the hope remains that Irving is on track to take the field during training camp, though he may not be full-go on that front right away. "The docs and the trainers are optimistic that there's a possibility that by August 1 he might be ready to get back in the fold and do some things, but it's not 100 percent," Pagano cautioned. Once he's up to speed, Irving -- who recorded 46 tackles in eight games for Denver in 2014 -- will have a chance to compete for a starting inside linebacker job for the Colts.

Irving (knee) is targeting training camp for a potential return, Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reports. Irving continues to rehab from an ACL issue, and the Colts were the club willing to gamble on him with a three-year contract despite the injury. If he can return to full health, there's a possibility he'll compete for playing time at inside linebacker, but he could also serve as a member of the Colts' special teams. Irving finished the 2014 campaign with 46 tackles (26 solo) and one sack over eight games with the Broncos.

Irving (knee) signed with the Colts on Friday, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports. With D'Qwell Jackson and Jerrell Freeman both under contract, Irving doesn't project as a starter for the Colts. He could, however, be the top backup at both inside linebacker spots, which would leave him one injury away from IDP relevance in deeper leagues. Irving recorded a career-high 46 tackles over just eight games in 2014, before a knee issue brought his season to an early end, further adding to Denver's injury woes at linebacker. While the injury did eventually require surgery, it wasn't a torn ACL. That means Irving will likely be fine for training camp, though it can't quite be assumed.

Irving (knee) has been placed on IR by the Broncos, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports. With Irving out for the season, the Broncos bolstered their depth at linebacker by claiming Todd Davis off waivers from the Saints.
