Roosevelt has been released by the Bills. After getting released by the Lions in July, Roosevelt was picked up by his hometown team but failed to earn a long-shot chance.

Roosevelt played his college ball at the University of Buffalo, and has made his only NFL appearances as a Bill (16 games between 2010-11). He'll be on the outside of the roster bubble looking in.

Browns signed WR Naaman Roosevelt. Roosevelt, 25, was out of the league last season. Prior to that, he caught 25 passes for 396 yards and one touchdown in two seasons with the Bills. Roosevelt will try to earn a spot at the bottom of the roster.

Ryan Fitzpatrick says Naaman Roosevelt has been "the man" so far in Bills training camp. "All he does is get open and catch the ball; that's it," Fitzpatrick said. "He's always in the right spot at the right time. You always know what you're going to get from him. He's just Mr. Reliable." Per beat writer Mark Gaughan, Roosevelt has been "showing off his phenomenal hands," and "hauling in a good number of passes, mostly against backup defenders." Roosevelt is squarely on the roster bubble, but that won't last long if his impressive play carries over to preseason games.

Naaman Roosevelt caught three passes for 29 yards in the Week 17 loss to the Patriots. Roosevelt fell behind Brad Smith and Derek Hagan on the depth chart. His second season in Buffalo ends with 16 catches for 257 yards and one touchdown in 10 games. Roosevelt will have to battle for a roster spot in 2012.

Bills declared WR Naaman Roosevelt (shoulder) active for Sunday's game against the Titans. Roosevelt is ready to serve as the No. 4 receiver. Stevie Johnson and Brad Smith will start out wide, with David Nelson in the slot. The Bills will be without K Rian Lindell (shoulder), giving Dave Rayner another shot. The rest of their inactives: WR Derek Hagan, WR Kamar Aiken, T Sam Young, DE Kyle Moore, LB Antonio Coleman and S George Wilson.

Naaman Roosevelt (shoulder) returned to Bills practice Wednesday. The exact extent of his participation is unknown, but it's a big step after Roosevelt failed to step on the practice field last week. If he's able to go again on Thursday, he'll likely be better than 50-50 to suit up against the Titans.
