It's the first time since the beginning of camp that the Jets have hinted Goodson still has a future with the team. Goodson has been stashed on the reserve/did not report list without explanation. It's presumably related to his May arrest on drug and weapons charges. Perhaps the Jets were planning to move on before being greeted by an uncertain running-back situation in camp. Ideally, Goodson would serve as a third-down back for early-down hammer Chris Ivory, but regardless of when he reports, he's going to have a hard time being ready for Week 1.

Asked Monday whether Mike Goodson's return to Jets camp is imminent, coach Rex Ryan replied "Not really." This is the closest to a detail the Jets have given on Goodson's whereabouts and timetable since training camp opened. His reasoning for failing to report is unknown, and there is no scheduled date for Goodson to join the team.
