Davis announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday via his personal X account.

Davis is retiring from the NFL after eight seasons, the highlight of which came across 15 games with the Panthers in 2020. In that campaign, he surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the first, and only, time in his NFL career, while also racking up eight total touchdowns. In total, Davis suited up for NFL action with the Seahawks, 49ers, Panthers, Bears, Falcons and Ravens.

Davis had a workout with the Vikings on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

EDGE Analysis

Davis was unable to make an impact in Baltimore and was ultimately waived in December, and he's been sitting on the open market since. With Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu both currently dealing with undisclosed injuries, Davis may be seen as an option to provide some depth in the backfield during camp.

Davis was waived by the Ravens on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran was a healthy inactive each of the past two weeks, and he had compiled just four total offensive snaps since Week 7, so this decision is hardly surprising. With J.K. Dobbins (knee) expected to be activated off injured reserve Saturday, the Ravens will be the healthiest they've been all season at running back, although the offense will likely still be limited with Lamar Jackson (knee) doubtful for Sunday's contest against the Steelers.

Davis (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Jaguars.

EDGE Analysis

Davis has played a minimal role for the Ravens this season and has yet to carve out any kind of consistent role with the team. He'll now work to earn a chance to play Week 13 against the Broncos.

Davis caught his only target for seven yards in the Ravens' 27-13 win over the Saints on Monday.

Davis saw just three snaps on offense with Gus Edwards out due to a hamstring injury. The veteran running back has yet to make an impact in Baltimore, having not played double-digit snaps since Week 2, despite J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill all missing time due to various injuries throughout the season.

Davis is inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns.

With Gus Edwards off the PUP list and back in the mix Sunday along with Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill, Davis is the odd man out in the Ravens' backfield for now.

Davis had one carry for three yards Sunday against the Bengals.

Even with Justice Hill (hamstring) sidelined, Davis did not see much of a role increase as he played just five offensive snaps while Kenyan Drake assumed the No. 2 role behind J.K. Dobbins. Davis is mired in the No. 3 role at best, and it could diminish further upon Hill's return. Wide receiver Devin Duvernay even had more rushing work than Davis and was more effective on his carries. Baltimore hits the road to face the Giants in Week 6.

Davis played one offensive snap Sunday against the Patriots and did not record any other statistics.

Though Davis remained active despite the return of J.K. Dobbins, he was not involved in the game plan, as Justice Hill assumed the No. 2 role in the backfield. Davis played 18 snaps Week 2 after seeing six snaps in the opener. With Hill rushing for 60 yards on six carries and Dobbins projecting to see more work moving forward, those who speculated on Davis carving out a role in this offense may want to look elsewhere.

Davis had five carries for four yards and was not targeted in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.

EDGE Analysis

Davis nearly matched the team lead in carries among running backs but that rings hollow when he averaged less than one yard per carry and the top back, Justice Hill, rushed for 16 yards. His snap count increased from six to 18 but that could come back down if J.K. Dobbins (knee) returns in Week 3. Even if Dobbins remains out, Davis does not seem to be primed for a fantasy-relevant role.

Davis rushed twice for 11 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 24-9 win over the Jets.

EDGE Analysis

Davis got just two touches, even with both J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards unavailable due to knee injuries. Dobbins is eligible to return as soon as Week 2 against the Dolphins, but even if he doesn't, Davis will likely continue to play a minimal role behind fellow veteran pickup Kenyan Drake.
