Sam has signed a contract with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. After not finding a job in the NFL, Sam will try to prove his ability up north. He was never able to crack the 53-man rosters of the Rams or Cowboys, but could make a return to the NFL if things go really well in Montreal.

Assuming he passes his physical on Wednesday, Sam will be added to the Cowboys' practice squad, the Dallas Morning News reports. That sound you just heard was the NFL's entire PR department exhaling. Sam isn't the best fit for the Cowboys' 4-3 defense, but given their crying need for a pass rush expect to see him on the 53-man roster sooner rather than later.

Sam wen unclaimed on waivers Sunday, and he is now free to sign with any NFL team, ESPN.com reports. Sam was waived by the Rams on Saturday, and while there has been speculation that he may join the practice squad, coach Jeff Fisher didn't give any indication that the team will bring Sam back.
