Oher (concussion) was released with a failed physical designation by the Panthers on Thursday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Oher missed the Panthers' last 13 games of the 2016 season under the league's concussion protocol, and the issues have lingered into the offseason. The Panthers signed former Viking Matt Kalil to start at left tackle in 2017, while Oher will look to get back to full health before potentially catching on with another team.

Oher (concussion) plans on reporting to training camp in late July, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Oher has been subject to the league's concussion protocol since September of 2016, missing the Panthers' final 13 games of the season as a result. He reported to the team's mandatory minicamp in June, but was unable to participate due to the concussion protocol. With Oher's future uncertain in Carolina, Daryl Williams and rookie Taylor Morton figure to compete for playing time at right tackle throughout the rest of the offseason, while newcomer Matt Kalil is slated to start at left tackle.

Oher (concussion) is not a lock to be ready in time for June's mandatory minicamp, Joseph Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Oher has been under the league's concussion protocol for eight months and, despite being an active participant in offseason workouts earlier in the spring, has not been present at OTAs. However, there haven't been any signs he's legitimately considering ending his career.

Oher (concussion) has been an active participant during offseason workouts, ESPN's David Newton reports.
EDGE Analysis
Oher has yet to be cleared through the league's concussion protocol since suffering the head injury back in Week 4 of the regular season. According to the report, Oher has been working out five days a week and is on pace to be ready before the start of training camp. It appears as though Oher will still be able to participate in team workouts regardless of whether or not the league clears Oher before mandatory minicamp. While it has been a long road to recovery, it appears that the 30-year-old is closing in on a full recovery.

Head coach Ron Rivera expects Oher (concussion) to play this season, Joseph Person of The Charlotte Observer reports. "Talking to Michael and listening to Michael, I believe he's going to play," Rivera said. "He looks good. He really does. It's just one of those things that when it's time to start doing everything, we'll see how he is."
EDGE Analysis
Oher is believed to be nearing the final stage of clearing the league's protocol, which is to gain clearance from an independent neurologist to return to play. He'll be evaluated again before OTAs start up on April 17, but if he's still having problems, Daryl Williams should kick off the Panthers' offseason program as the team's first-string right tackle. However, Rivera sounds confident Oher will be available at some point before the start of the upcoming season and, if that expectation ever does come to fruition, the veteran lineman should still be in the mix for the starting job.

Oher (concussion) remains under concussion protocol but is progressing in his recovery, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Oher hasn't cleared protocol since first reporting concussion symptoms prior to Week 4 -- nearly 6 months ago. However, the 30-year-old offensive lineman has been working out as usual in the weight room five days a week and is moving in the right direction towards getting the thumbs up. With the recent addition of Ryan Kalil, Oher's expected to slide over to the right tackle position ahead of the 2017 season opener. However, if he is unable to shake off any and all lingering issues related to his head injury soon, the Panthers may need to begin making other arrangements.
