Brosmer completed seven of eight passes for 57 yards without a touchdowns or interception in Sunday's 16-3 win over the Packers. He did lose a fumble.
EDGE Analysis
J.J. McCarthy (hand) left the game in the third quarter and didn't return, putting Brosmer under center to finish out the season for the Vikings. The undrafted rookie appeared in eight games overall as McCarthy battled injuries, and Brosmer wound up completing 66.2 percent of his passes (47-for-71) for 328 yards, albeit with zero TDs and five turnovers -- four INTs and Sunday's lost fumble. Minnesota still seems committed to McCarthy as its QB of the future, but given his inability to stay healthy, the team may look to bring in a more established backup in the offseason rather than relying on Brosmer to fill that role in 2026.

Brosmer completed nine of 16 passes for 51 yards without a touchdown or an interception in the Vikings' 23-10 win over the Lions on Christmas Day. He added 16 yards on two carries.
EDGE Analysis
Making his second career NFL start, Brosmer produced very little offense, but he crucially avoided any turnovers while the Minnesota defense generated an impressive six takeaways. The rookie quarterback did get sacked seven times, however. It's not yet clear if J.J. McCarthy (hand) will be cleared to play Week 18 against the Packers in a game that may not have anything at stake for either side, but if McCarthy gets shut down, Brosmer would be in line to make one more start in 2025.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell announced that Brosmer will start at quarterback in Thursday's game against the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
O'Connell revealed that J.J. McCarthy has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture on his throwing hand after exiting this past Sunday's 16-13 win over the Giants, and while the second-year quarterback hasn't been ruled out from returning for the Vikings' Week 18 game against the Packers, he won't be able to play through the injury on a short week. Brosmer came on in relief for an injured McCarthy in Week 16 and will be picking up his second start of the season Thursday. Through five total appearances on the season, the undrafted rookie out of Minnesota has completed 31 of 47 pass attempts for 220 yards (4.7 YPA), zero touchdowns and four interceptions while adding no positive rushing yardage. Even against an injury ravaged Detroit defense, Brosmer doesn't profile as much more than a desperation fantasy play in Week 17.

Brosmer completed seven of nine passes for 52 yards and rushed three times for minus-3 yards after replacing J.J. McCarthy (hand) in the second quarter of Sunday's 16-13 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
McCarthy was hurt on Minnesota's penultimate offensive play of the first half, which also resulted in a Giants defensive touchdown that trimmed Minnesota's lead to 13-10. Brosmer came in to kneel down on the last play before halftime before taking over in the second half with McCarthy ruled out. The backup led a 14-play, 57-yard drive that culminated in Will Reichard's game-winning 30-yard field goal with 4:15 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Brosmer wasn't particularly impressive otherwise. If McCarthy doesn't recover prior to Thursday's game against the Lions, Brosmer would be in line to make his second NFL start. Brosmer threw for 126 yards with four interceptions in his previous start against the Seahawks in Week 13.

Brosmer completed 19 of 30 pass attempts for 126 yards and four interceptions while losing one yard on his only carry in Sunday's 26-0 loss to Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
The undrafted rookie got the nod under center for the Vikings with both J.J. McCarthy (concussion) and Carson Wentz (shoulder) sidelined for a brutal road matchup against the Seahawks. Brosmer played like a third-string quarterback by committing four turnovers, the first of which was returned for a touchdown in the second quarter. The 24-year-old struggled to develop chemistry with superstar WR Justin Jefferson, completing just two passes for four yards on four looks to his top target. Brosmer did little in Sunday's shutout to generate a potential quarterback controversy once McCarthy is cleared for action. If the latter clears the league's concussion protocol ahead of next Sunday's tilt versus Washington, then Brosmer will surely be sent back to the bench.

Brosmer will start Sunday's game against the Seahawks after J.J. McCarthy (concussion) was ruled out Friday, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Carson Wentz (shoulder) on injured reserve, Brosmer is the next man up under center for Minnesota. The 24-year-old rookie signed with the Vikings after he wasn't drafted out of Minnesota. Brosmer has attempted eight regular-season passes this season, completing five for 42 scoreless yards. During the preseason, Brosmer completed 60 percent of his 58 pass attempts for 364 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The Seattle defense is a better one-for-one fantasy bet than Brosmer.

Brosmer will take first-team reps at practice to open Week 13 with J.J. McCarthy having been placed in the concussion protocol, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brosmer will be in position to start on the road against Seattle on Sunday if McCarthy is not able to fully clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in time to play Week 13. In that scenario, John Wolford would stand to be elevated from the practice squad to operate as Brosmer's backup. The undrafted rookie out of Minnesota has logged four regular-season appearances so far, in which span he's completed five of eight pass attempts for 42 yards.

Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Tuesday that Brosmer will be the Vikings' backup quarterback behind J.J. McCarthy (ankle) for the rest of the 2025 season in the absence of Carson Wentz (shoulder), Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brosmer was initially expected to revert to the emergency third quarterback role once McCarthy was fully recovered from his ankle injury. However, with Wentz set to undergo season-ending surgery to address his left shoulder injury, Brosmer is slated to serve as the Vikings' backup for the rest of the season. Brosmer has been the Vikings' QB2 since Week 3 and has appeared in three games, completing 5 of 8 passes for 42 yards over that span.

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that Brosmer will operate as the No. 2 quarterback behind Carson Wentz during Sunday's game against the Bengals, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brosmer spent the first two weeks of the regular season handling emergency No. 3 quarterback duties, but with J.J. McCarthy (ankle) now likely out at least two weeks, he's set for a temporary promotion behind Wentz. Meanwhile, new roster addition Desmond Ridder will work as the No. 3 quarterback versus Cincinnati on Sunday.

Brosmer (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday night's game against the Falcons but is available as the emergency third-string quarerback, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
As the emergency third quarterback, Brosmer will be permitted to see the field only if both J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz were to be taken out due to injury, illness or ejection. Brosmer played in all three of the Vikings' preseason games, completing 60.3 percent of his passes for 364 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while adding four carries for seven yards.
