Wheaton caught 2-of-3 targets for 19 yards in the Steelers' 31-13 win over the Jets on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The emergence of Sammie Coates drops Wheaton to third on the receiver depth chart, further hurting his fantasy value. There's no reason to roster him except in very deep leagues.

Wheaton caught his lone target for a 30-yard touchdown in Sunday's 43-14 win over the Steelers.
EDGE Analysis
Despite his touchdown from distance, Wheaton didn't have a particularly encouraging performance, playing just 35.6 percent of the offensive snaps, down from the previous week's 45.0 percent. With Sammie Coates emerging and Eli Rogers (toe) potentially returning soon, Wheaton may not reach a typical starter's level of playing time at any point this season. Even in an explosive offense, that's undeniably a major issue.

Wheaton will get snaps from the slot position in Sunday night's game against the Chiefs, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton was benched after dropping three passes during his season debut last week, but has looked far improved in practice this week, according to teammate Antonio Brown, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports. Regardless of any discomfort his previously-injured shoulder is causing, with Eli Rogers (toe) out Sunday, Wheaton is expected to share snaps from slot with Darrius Heyward-Bey, leaving Antonio Brown and Sammie Coates to play on the outside.

Wheaton's three drops in his season debut Sunday leaves uncertainty around the Steelers' No. 2 wide receiver position, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton dropped a sure-fire touchdown on the Steelers' opening drive Sunday, and failed to haul in his next couple targets as well, resulting in him being benched in Pittsburgh's lopsided loss. After he was pulled, Sammie Coates, Eli Rogers, Darrius Heyward-Bey, tight end Jesse James and even reserve running back Darryl Richardson were used ahead of Wheaton at receiver, at least until Rogers exited due to a toe injury. Although the Week 4 return of running back Le'Veon Bell should give the Steelers a more consistent second option to Antonio Brown in the passing game, the team's need for a traditional complementary wideout was magnified by Wheaton's struggles Sunday.

Wheaton failed to make an impact in his 2016 debut, catching just one of five targets for two yards Sunday in Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton missed the first two games of the season with a shoulder injury, but it's difficult to judge his effectiveness based on this one due to the overall struggles Pittsburgh's offense experienced in a 34-3 blowout loss. After managing 749 yards and five touchdowns last year, the Steelers' No. 2 wide receiver should be better moving forward as an important part of their usually high-powered passing game.

Wheaton (shoulder) is slated to play Sunday against the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
A full practice participant all week, Wheaton doesn't have any designation on the final injury report. He's thus slated to make his 2016 regular-season debut, though it's possible Sammie Coates will cut into Wheaton's work as the likely No. 2 wide receiver.

Wheaton (shoulder) was a full practice participant Wednesday for the first time this season, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton, who has missed the Steelers' first two regular-season games, expects to play Sunday against the Eagles. "I'm planning to play unless something else comes up," Wheaton said Wednesday. "I'm always taking mental reps, so I'll be good." Once he re-proves his health, Wheaton figures to regain his starting spot across from Antonio Brown, though he could lose some snaps to fellow wideout Sammie Coates, who has logged four catches for 153 yards thus far while helping fill in for Wheaton.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said Wheaton (shoulder) is ready to return, Dale Lolley of the Observer-Reporter reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton returned to practice last week, and while the wideout believed he was healthy enough to play, Tomlin opted for a more cautious approach by holding him out of Sunday's win over the Bengals. Wheaton will likely have a starting spot across from Antonio Brown, but he could lose some snaps to second-year receiver Sammie Coates, who already has three gains of 42-plus yards.

Wheaton (shoulder) said it was a coach's decision to hold him out of Sunday's win over the Bengals, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. "Honestly, I think (health-wise) I'm fine," Wheaton said. "It's just a matter that I missed a lot of football. And so with that little bit of practice it was an easy call for [coach Mike Tomlin]."
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton returned to practice as a full participant Wednesday and Thursday, leading to the general expectation he would play, even though he was listed as questionable after being downgraded to limited participation Friday. It turns out he spent Wednesday and Thursday working with the scout team, as the Steelers wanted him to ease him back into practice following a two-week absence. With no setback reported, Wheaton should be ready for Sunday's game against the Eagles.

Wheaton (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
EDGE Analysis
With Wheaton still out, Sammie Coates figures to continue to see added work Sunday behind top wideout Antonio Brown and slot man Eli Rogers, who were targeted a combined 18 times in Week 1.
