Wheaton (finger) was limited at Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay, Patrick Finley of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell doesn't expect Wheaton to play but also wasn't ready to rule the receiver out. Limited at practice all week, Wheaton could come down to a game-time decision for a team that badly needs any help it can get at wide receiver. With Josh Bellamy (ankle) also questionable, the Bears may end up starting Deonte Thompson or Tre McBride, both of whom have more experience returning kicks than catching passes. Wheaton does at least seem to be on track for Week 3, if nothing else.

Wheaton (finger) was a limited participant in the Bears' practice Thursday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Wheaton has yet to return to full practice, his limited participation in back-to-back days nonetheless bodes well for his chances of suiting up Week 2 against the Buccaneers. It's still likely that Wheaton will be deemed questionable heading into the weekend, but if he practices again Friday in some capacity, he'll likely be on the field two days later. Wheaton could carve out a sizable role in the Bears' passing attack right away, as the roster is sorely lacking in premium receiving options.

Wheaton (finger) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Also a limited participant for the final two practices last week, Wheaton ultimately was held out of Sunday's loss to the Falcons. He seems to be on track for Week 2 in Tampa Bay, where he could step right in as one of Mike Glennon's top targets. The Bears are desperate for wideout talent after losing Cameron Meredith (knee) for the season and Kevin White (shoulder) for at least the next eight weeks.

Wheaton (finger) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton was able to turn in a pair of limited practices this week, but the Bears will give him a little extra time to recover from a broken finger. According to Biggs, Wheaton was able to run on the field prior to Sunday's game without protection on his hand, which bodes well for his chances of suiting up in Week 2. As for the opener, Wheaton's absence could loom large for an already depleted Bears receiving corps, as Kevin White and Kendall Wright are now in line to see an even larger share of the snaps at the wideout spots.

The Bears aren't expecting Wheaton (finger) who is listed as questionable, to play in their Week 1 matchup with the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton was held out of practice Wednesday before returning in limited fashion Thursday and Friday, but it doesn't appear that he's progressed quickly enough from the broken finger to give it a go for the season opener. Assuming that Wheaton is in fact sidelined for Week 1, a Bears passing attack that's already lacking in high-end targets will be forced to lean more heavily on the likes of Kevin White, Kendall Wright, Deonte Thompson and tight ends Zach Miller and Dion Sims.

Wheaton was a limited practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton practiced Thursday for the first time since suffering a broken finger Aug. 13 on his second day back at practice after missing two weeks while recovering from an appendectomy. He was expected to miss the first week or two of the regular season, but it now seems he at least has some chance to line up for the receiver-needy Bears in Week 1. Wheaton might have a limited role if he plays, as his finger probably isn't 100 percent healthy and he still hasn't had much of a chance to develop chemistry with Mike Glennon. The Bears would still be glad to have him available, after losing Cameron Meredith (knee) for the year.

Wheaton (finger) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Bears held Wheaton out of their first practice of the week Wednesday while he continues to nurse a broken finger, but his involvement in Thursday's team drills -- even in a limited capacity -- at least amounts to some improvement. It still looks unlikely that he'll be on the field for the Bears' Week 1 matchup with the Falcons, but Wheaton could have a more realistic shot at playing the following Sunday in Tampa Bay.

Wheaton (finger) didn't practice Wednesday, Adam Hoge of WGN Radio 720 AM Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton had surgery in mid-August to repair a broken finger and is expected to miss the first week or two of the season. He should be back before the end of September to help a Chicago receiving corps that sorely lacks talent after losing Cameron Meredith (knee) for the season. Wheaton will have an opportunity to establish himself as one of the team's leading targets once he's available.

Wheaton (finger) should be back within the next few weeks, Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Still recovering from mid-August surgery on a broken finger, Wheaton may sit out Week 1 but should be back at some point in September. Cameron Meredith's season-ending knee injury means the Bears likely will turn to Wheaton as a starter on the outside across from Kevin White. Fellow offseason acquisition Kendall Wright was highly effective from the slot during the preseason.

Wheaton underwent surgery this week to repair his broken left pinky and there is no current timetable for his return, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wheaton originally broke the finger during Sunday's practice, not long after returning from an appendectomy that kept him sidelined for nearly two full weeks. Without a clear timeline regarding Wheaton's potential return, Kendall Wright and Victory Cruz will have an opportunity to improve their stock as they battle for the No. 3 spot at wide receiver.
