Addison did a fine job at pressuring Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles on Sunday, providing a welcomed pass-rushing presence opposite teammate Charles Johnson. After a career-best 6.5 sacks last season, Addison is certainly trending in the right direction as he aims to take his game to the next level this season.

Addison started in place of Greg Hardy (coach's decision) at defensive end Sunday and supplied 2.5 sacks against the Lions. Addison performed wonderfully in a rare starting appearance. Along with 2.5 sacks, the fourth-year pro tallied four quarterback hits. Following Sunday's game, Addison has already matched his sack total from last season.

Panthers signed DE Mario Addison to a two-year contract extension through 2016. Addison, 26, appeared in all 17 games last season, making two starts and participating on 269 defensive snaps. He amassed 21 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble as the top reserve behind starters LE Charles Johnson and RE Greg Hardy. Addison will compete for that role again with rookie DE Kony Ealy.
