Cannon (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Cannon's absence over the next four weeks or more will certainly be a blow to the team's offensive line depth. The veteran tackle has made four starts for the team this season at tackle. While he is out, Yodny Cajuste is in line to be the Patriots' primary backup at the position.

Cannon (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannon popped up on the injury report Thursday after beginning the week without an injury designation. He was quickly ruled out thereafter, which isn't a significant surprise given the lack of time for him to clear the league's concussion protocol. David Andrews (concussion) will also be sidelined, which will leave New England's offensive line shorthanded.

Cannon was cut by the Texans on Monday, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannon had a brief and injury-marred tenure with the Texans after being traded from New England in March 2021. He managed to start only four games prior to a back injury ending his campaign, and he'll now look for another opportunity around the league.

Cannon (back) recently underwent surgery recently to address a herniated disc and will be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannon was placed on injured reserve with the back issue prior to the Texans' Week 5 matchup. Given his timeline after surgery, he's unlikely to return this season. Charlie Heck should serve as the starting left tackle in Cannon's absence.

Cannon (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Cannon is officially considered questionable, he didn't practice this week and seems unlikely to play against New England. If he's held out Sunday, Charlie Heck will make his first start of the regular season.

Cannon (knee) returned to practice Tuesday after being recently activated from the active/PUP list, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannon's surgery over the offseason forced the offensive lineman to start training camp on the PUP list. After opting out of last season, the 33-year-old appears ready to take on a depth role for the Texans' line.

Cannon (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list Monday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannon underwent arthroscopic knee surgery this offseason that was considered to be a minor procedure. However, the 33-year-old appears likely to miss a majority of training camp while he rehabs on the PUP list. The TCU product opted out of the 2020 campaign with the Patriots, but he has been reliable for the majority of his career, playing 12-plus games in seven of his nine seasons.

Cannon recently underwent minor knee surgery, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The surgery appears to be precautionary and is unlikely to affect Cannon's participation in training camp. The 33-year-old opted out of the 2020-21 campaign with the Patriots, but the 6-foot-6 offensive lineman has been a reliable player for most of his career, playing 12-plus games in seven of his nine seasons.

The Patriots are trading Cannon to the Texans, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal includes a swap of fourth-, fifth- and sixth-round picks, while freeing up $7 million in cap space for New England. Cannon has already announced that he'll play in 2021 after having opted out last season, but his return will come with the Texans rather than Patriots. In New England his presence would have been superfluous, given that the team acquired Trent Brown (knee) in a trade just last week, but Cannon will provide valuable depth in Houston, where he could even be allowed to switch back to guard.
