Lions FS Louis Delmas (knee) is listed as out for Week 9 against the Jaguars. Erik Coleman and Ricardo Silva will be Detroit's starting safeties with Amari Spievey (concussions) also ruled out. Delmas aggravated his lingering left knee injury in last week's win over Seattle. One report stated an MRI showed "nothing major," but it's clearly still an issue. He's week to week again.

League sources tell MLive.com that Louis Delmas' knee MRI showed nothing major. The Lions can breathe a sigh of relief for now as Delmas really is "day-to-day" just like coach Jim Schwartz proclaimed on Monday. However, this shouldn't stop them from exploring veteran safety help at the deadline. Delmas is the heart and soul of the Lions' defense, but his knee issues are chronic.

According to Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports, the Lions are shopping for veteran safety help due to concerns about FS Louis Delmas' knee. Coach Jim Schwartz characterized Delmas as "day-to-day" after exiting last week's game with an injury to the same knee that sidelined him for the first five weeks of the season. Obviously having no basis in reality, Schwartz's injury updates have become comical. Delmas has missed nine of the Lions' past 12 games.

The Lions are calling FS Louis Delmas (knee) "day-to-day." Coach Jim Schwartz has refused to characterize the injury as an aggravation even though Delmas' soreness is in the same (left) knee he had operated on in August. The Lions' defense is infinitely better with Delmas in the fold, though they may not feel pressure to rush him back against the lowly Jaguars in Week 9.

Coach Jim Schwartz would not classify Louis Delmas' latest left knee injury as an aggravation. Delmas missed the first four games of the season due to Aug. 7 left knee surgery. He left Sunday's win over the Seahawks and was unable to return, leaving Erik Coleman at free safety. Delmas is set for further testing and we'd be surprised if this injury isn't related to his earlier woes.

Louis Delmas (knee) practiced fully on Saturday and is listed as probable for Monday Night Football. Delmas hasn't reported any setbacks since making his 2012 debut. The Lions are expected to be without corners Jacob Lacey (concussion) and Bill Bentley (doubtful, shoulder) on Monday night. If Bentley is ruled out, sixth-round pick Jonte Green will likely start opposite Chris Houston.

Making his 2012 debut, Lions FS Louis Delmas (knee) racked up seven tackles (two for a loss), one interception and one pass breakup in Sunday's Week 6 win over the Eagles. Delmas is one of the game's biggest difference-makers on the defensive side of the ball. "He's like our Ray Lewis to the defense," CB Chris Houston said. "Brings the energy, brings the swagger, makes plays and makes other younger players feed up off of him." Delmas impressive return is bad news for Jay Cutler and the Bears' passing game in Week 7.

Lions FS Louis Delmas (knee) is active for Week 6 versus the Eagles. Delmas will make his 2012 debut as the Lions shake up their defense. Amari Spievey takes over for Erik Coleman at strong safety while Jacob Lacey displaces RCB Bill Bentley. Nick Fairly will fill in for DT Corey Williams (knee). Kevin Smith is a healthy scratch since he doesn't contribute on special teams and hasn't carried the ball in two games. Other inactives: S Ricardo Silva, LB Tahir Whitehead, OT Jason Fox, OT Corey Hilliard, QB Kellen Moore.

Lions FS Louis Delmas (questionable, knee) doesn't know if he's ready to play on Sunday against the Eagles. "Mentally I am ready. Physically, I don't know," Delmas said. "I am not 100 percent and anything lower than that is not being ready to play." Delmas has been battling knee injuries since Thanksgiving of 2011, and after missing all of training camp and the first four weeks of the season, Delmas may just not be up to speed in terms of game shape, yet. We fully expect him to play, though, but he'll likely be eased back in.

Lions FS Louis Delmas (knee) will be on a snap count in his Week 6 return. It'll be Delmas' first appearance of the season, and even he admits he isn't yet 100 percent. "We need to be careful," DC Gunther Cunningham said. Delmas may only play on obvious passing downs. The Lions would probably be pleased to just get 20 snaps from him against the Eagles, and have him emerge unscathed.
