Long (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Long has been limited in practice the last two days, and while head coach John Fox said this week that he was hopeful that the offensive lineman would be able to play, his status is truly up in the air. Expect Long to be a game-time decision Sunday.

Long (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Long failed to practice a day earlier, so his limited involvement Thursday offers more optimism that he'll able to suit up in the season opener Sunday against the Falcons. Long will move over to the left guard spot in 2017 after playing right guard throughout the 2016 campaign.

Coach John Fox indicated Monday he was "hopeful" that Fox, who is day-to-day with an undisclosed issue, will be able to take the field for Week 1, Zach Zaidman of the Chicago Bears Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is unclear what Long is dealing with or when the issue began, but it does not sound like too much of a concern for the Bears. Hronis Grasu, Tom Compton, and Bradley Sowell are the only depth lineman on the roster, so one of them figure to be in line to take over for Long should he be unable to go Sunday.

There was worry a couple of weeks ago that Long would not be ready for Week 1, but with the lineman back at practice Monday, it appears as though he'll be on track to be on the field for the team's season opener.

The Bears organization is making no promises that Long (ankle) will be cleared to play in Week 1, , Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Long's been limited in practices during training camp as he recovers from ankle surgery, and the timeline for his return to full health is uncertain. In case he's unavailable to start the season, Cody Whitehair has been taking reps at left guard, and would likely take over while Hroniss Grasu would handle duties at center. Having Long in the lineup certainly would make life easier for Jordan Howard and the team's rushing attack, which could see significant attention from opposing defenses this year.

Long (ankle) participated in Sunday's practice, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Long was limited last week as he works back from right ankle surgery and the Bears are likely going to continue to ease him back into action throughout training camp. He was reportedly taking part in Sunday's practice without issue, which bodes well for Long to be all systems go by the time the regular season arrives. Long is currently making the transition from right guard to left guard ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Long (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Rich Campbell on Twitter reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was a positive sign that Long was on the field as he attempts to make a strong transition from right to left guard this season. The fact that he was on the field provides hope that he'll see his practice participation increased in the near future, as he's a vital cog of the Bears solid offensive line.

Long (ankle) participated in the Bears first practice of training camp, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It had been previously reported that Long was questionable for the start of training camp, but the great news is that he's on the field as he works on his transition from right guard to left guard. Should he have a healthy camp, he'll continue to ensure that the Bears have a strong offensive line, especially on the interior, which significantly helps to open lanes for star running back Jordan Howard,

Long (ankle) is recovering well but remains uncertain to be ready for the start of training camp, Adam L. Jahns of The Chicago Sun-Times reports. "[Long] did some explosion work this past week," head coach John Fox said Friday. "He's right on target. We still have some time after this [minicamp] is over - six to seven weeks. It'll be touch-and-go whether he's ready for the first day of training camp or maybe early on in camp. But he's doing well."
EDGE Analysis
Long had surgery late last season to repair ligaments in his right ankle that were torn in Week 10 against the Bucs. Although he's missed out on quality practice time this offseason, Long has still been involved in team meetings and has spent his off time sharpening the mental aspects of his game. When declared healthy, the three-time Pro Bowler should have no problem sliding right back into the starting lineup, whether that's at the start of training camp or a week or two into it.
