Long, who underwent season-ending surgery on his neck Dec. 19, said this week during an interview with the "Carmen and Jurko" show on WMVP-AM 1000 that he would also undergo offseason surgery to address a torn labrum in his left shoulder, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports. "There's going to be some work done with [the labrum] for sure," Long said.
EDGE Analysis
Long first tore the labrum in the 2016 preseason, but went on to play eight games during that regular season and 10 contests in 2017 before being shut down on account of the more pressing neck issue. While the Bears monitor Long's recovery from at least two procedures, it's unlikely that he'll take part in the team's offseason program, though there's more optimism regarding his availability for training camp.

Long (hand/shoulder) underwent neck surgery Tuesday, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though hand and shoulder issues resulted in Long landing on injured reserve earlier this month, it looks like recovering from the neck procedure will be the lineman's top priority heading into the 2018 campaign. Even so, Long still could require surgery to address the torn tendon and ligaments in his left hand and the torn labrum in his left shoulder, an injury he had been playing through since August of 2016. It's expected that Long will be ready to go for the start of training camp in the fall, but the three-time Pro Bowler's litany of health issues the past couple of seasons may make it difficult for the Bears to rely on him playing all 16 games in 2018.

Long (hand/shoulder) underwent neck surgery Tuesday, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
There's not many healthy parts left for Long, who nursed shoulder and ankle injuries all season before suffering hand and neck injuries. It'll be a long road to recovery, but at this time, it doesn't appear he'll miss training 2018 training camp.

Coach John Fox said Wednesday that Long was placed on injured reserve for a hand injury in addition to his previously injured shoulder.
EDGE Analysis
Per the report, Long had been nursing the hand injury for a while and the compiling injuries were just becoming too much to play through. It's not yet sure how serious the hand injury is, but Long should be fine for the start of training camp.

Long (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Long suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the 49ers but the details of the ailment are still unknown. The veteran lineman dealt with ankle and finger injuries throughout the season and it appears the addition of the shoulder injury was too much for Long to play through. He played in 62.7 percent of the Bears' snaps this season but will now leave Cody Whitehair to take over as starting right guard for the remainder of the season.

Long sustained a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
There was talk in mid-November of the Bears shutting down Long for the season as he has dealt with a multitude of injures this season, and Sunday's game may reinforce that idea. There has been no indication from the team on the severity of the injury at this point, beyond being designated questionable to return to the game.

Long (ankle) is active for Sunday's tilt against the Eagles, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Long was added to the injury report on Thursday, as he was limited in practice due to his ankle injury. He's faced multiple injuries throughout the season but will continue to fight through them this week. Long played in all of Chicago's offensive snaps last week and will look to do the same this week.

Long (finger) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Long only played one snap last week against the Packers, as the lineman is dealing with a plethora of injuries at the moment. It seems like the veteran will power through the pain this week in hopes of playing Sunday against the Lions. Look for more updates to come once Friday's injury report is released.

Long, who played just one snap in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Packers, is likely still hampered by a litany of injuries and could be a candidate for the Bears to shut down for the season, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports. "I think time will tell," Bears head coach John Fox said Monday when asked whether Long will be able to play through his injuries without requiring surgery. "I think last week I didn't feel like he was quite able to practice in a full speed to be prepared. He's physically capable of being active. But again, this is a game where you have to practice to get ready for a game in a lot of cases. So he was active, so he was healthy enough, but I'm not sure he was going to be healthy enough to take 70 snaps in a game."
EDGE Analysis
Long was listed as a limited participant in practice throughout last week while he dealt with a broken fingers on his left hand, but according to Dickerson, that's far from the only health concern for the three-time Pro Bowler. In addition, Long has been playing through a torn labrum in his left shoulder and is suspected to be dealing with discomfort in his surgically repaired ankle. With the 3-6 Bears not in serious contention for a playoff spot, the team could decide to prioritize's Long's long-term health and have him undergo surgery for the shoulder, which would be necessary at some point anyway. If the Bears do decide to shut down Long, Cody Whitehair would likely fill his spot at right guard while Hroniss Grasu would step in at center.

Long (finger) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
Long first injured his finger in the Bears' final game before the bye week Oct. 29 against the Saints, but with two full weeks to recover from the issue, the left guard looks like he'll be in line for a full slate of snaps while Chicago takes on its division rival.
