Brindza sustained a torn right Achilles injury last week, Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brindza, who had signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets earlier this month, thus faces a lengthy recovery period, and it's unclear if he'll have any chance to recover in time to kick at any point during the 2016 season. In the meantime, fellow kicker Nick Folk remains under contract with the Jets for the upcoming NFL campaign.

Brindza has been released by the Buccaneers, the Tampa Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brindza won the Bucs' starting kicker job following the preseason, but struggled mightily once the meaningful games started, missing six field goals and two extra-point attempts already this season.

Brindza was 1-for-3 on field goal attempts, successfully making a 42 yarder, and was 2-for-3 on point-after attempts in Sunday's 37-23 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Brindza hit the right upright on a 29-yard attempt at the end of the first half, and then was wide left on a 43-yard try in the third quarter. The rookie kicker has likely exhausted the benefit of the doubt that his undeniably formidable leg and early success had bought him, particularly with the Bucs now 1-3 and the current regime's seat getting progressively warmer. Brindza's status will likely be made a lot clearer in the early part of the coming week.

Brindza's job may be in danger, after he missed five field goals and two PATs over the last two games, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brindza displayed his leg strength on a successful 58-yarder last week, but the Bucs probably can't justify keeping him around, as he's since converted just one of his last six attempts. Given how the Tampa Bay offense has played this season, the team's kicking situation can be ignored in the vast majority of formats.

Brindza endured a tough afternoon in the Week 3 loss against the Texans, going 1-for-4 on field goal attempts and missing his sole extra-point attempt.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie kicker got things off to a great start with a 58-yard field goal in the first quarter, his second successful kick of 50+ yards in as many weeks and the second longest in franchise history. His final miss was also from similar range, a 57-yarder in the fourth quarter that came at a point when the Bucs attempted to pull within six late in the game. It was the other misfires, attempts of 41 and 33 yards and the errant point-after attempt that hit the uprights, that would appear to be of greater concern. The 10 points that Brindza essentially left on the field proved to be the difference between a win and a loss for Tampa, but despite the tough afternoon, on Monday. Brindza will attempt to rebound in the Bucs' Week 4 matchup against division foe Carolina.

Brindza nailed 4-of-5 field goal attempts and also successfully converted both point-after attempts in Sunday's 26-19 victory over the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Brindza drilled a first quarter 55-yard attempt for his first field goal as a pro, and then put a key 30-yarder through the uprights in the fourth quarter to extend the Bucs' lead to a touchdown. The rookie kicker also secured touchbacks on six of seven kickoffs, making him a valuable weapon in nullifying the opposing return game. The last-minute preseason decision to retain Brindza certainly appears to be paying off for the Bucs early in the season.

Brindza converted both of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 42-14 loss to the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
Brindza did not get a chance to show off his powerful leg on any field goal attempts, although extra points are no longer the automatic proposition they once were. The rookie latched on to the Bucs' final roster after a whirlwind final week of preseason that saw him get traded from the Lions to Tampa and then promptly make 55 and 57-yard field goals in the final exhibition game to secure the starting placekicker job. With a rookie quarterback that likely will have his fair share of struggles cashing in drives with trips into the end zone, Brindza figures to be counted on heavily to produce points for the Bucs in 2015.
