Former Jets and Panthers NT Kris Jenkins has retired from football.
"Time for the torch to be passed to the younger players," said Jenkins in a statement. "The mind is always willing to play but my body deserves the rest." The Redskins were rumored to be interested in signing Jenkins along with his brother Cullen, so this may throw a bit of a wrench into their free agency plans. Jenkins, who turns 32 in a couple of weeks, spent most of the last two seasons on injured reserve with twin ACL tears. He made four Pro Bowls in his career, including All-Pro berths in 2002 and 2003. Jenkins should be a prime candidate for the Panthers' Ring of Honor when he's eligible.
