McCray returned to practice, albeit in a limited fashion, after being sidelined since Sunday. The 29-year-old last played with the Seahawks in 2016 when he made 39 tackles (23 solo) in 16 games. McCray will need to carve out a role on special teams in order to make the 53-man roster.

McCray did not participate in Sunday's practice due to an undisclosed injury, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.

McCray signed a reserve/future contract with Buffalo back in January and is currently spending training camp fighting for a spot on the team's final roster. It's unclear exactly what is keeping him sidelined Sunday, but any sort of serious injury will hurt his chances of surviving final cuts.

The Bills signed McCray to a reserve/future contract Wednesday.

McCray is a sixth-year safety who last spent time with Seattle during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He saw some playing time at safety when Kam Chancellor couldn't play but, other than that, has worked almost exclusively as a special-teams player. He's likely competing for a similar role with the Bills.

McCray signed with the Chiefs on Friday. McCray figures to serve as a backup safety for the Chiefs again in 2015, giving the club extra depth with Eric Berry out. The club signed Tyvon Branch in the offseason, who will take on the role at strong safety while Husain Abdullah figures to take free safety duties. McCray's biggest contribution will likely be as part of special teams.

McCray was traded from the Buccaneers to the Chiefs on Thursday, the Tampa Bay Times reports. McCray heads to Kansas City in exchange for guard Rishaw Johnson. The 25-year-old McCray recorded 12 tackles (eight solo) in 11 games for the Buccaneers last season.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel confirms Kelcie McCray is "in the mix" for the Dolphins' free safety job. McCray went undrafted in 2012 and spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve, but the Dolphins are counting on him to take a big step forward now that he's finally healthy. There aren't any other current options after Miami didn't address safety in the draft. McCray will compete for a starting role with Chris Clemons and Jimmy Wilson in training camp.
