Redskins waived SS Jose Gumbs, DL Chris Davenport, TE Kevin Perry and QB Tommy Rees. Gumbs appeared in eight games with Washington last year, making one start in place of a suspended Brandon Meriweather. The Redskins have signed free agents DE Frank Kearse, CB Courtney Bridget, S Ross Madison and CB Blake Sailors in corresponding moves.

Redskins re-signed exclusive rights free agent S Jose Gumbs to a one-year, $495,000 contract. A 2012 undrafted free agent out of Monmouth (Miles Austin's alma mater), Gumbs is a core special teams player but wound up seeing far too many snaps on defense in 2013, due to Washington's abysmal safety play. Gumbs will be a solid bet to make the 53, but should be no higher than the team's No. 3 safety.
