Titans released S Jordan Babineaux. It was an expected move after the Titans signed George Wilson. One of the league's worst safeties in 2012, Babineaux was benched twice as the Titans struggled for answers on defense. On the wrong side of 30, he's going to find the market cruel.

The Nashville Tennesseean believes the Titans could "choose to part" with SS Jordan Babineaux. The 30-year-old veteran was benched multiple times in 2012, and played just 73 of a possible 152 snaps over the Titans' final two games. Set to make $1.6 million in 2013, Babineaux graded out as one of the league's worst safeties in Pro Football Focus' ratings. The Titans have a potential in-house replacement in Al Afalava, but the 2009 sixth-rounder would certainly face competition for Babineaux's job if he's cut loose.

Newly minted starter Jordan Babineaux played every snap at strong safety in the Titans' Week 3 win over the Lions. Robert Johnson was benched and Michael Griffin kicked to free safety. Although coach Mike Munchak said the job will be open to competition "weekly," this is their best lineup. Johnson is a replacement-level talent. Babineaux had five tackles and two pass breakups against the Lions.

Jordan Babineaux is starting over Robert Johnson at free safety for the Titans in Week 3. The Titans have had some of the worst safety play in the league so far in 2012, so head coach Mike Munchak is handing the reins back over to Babineaux, who led the team in tackles last season. Babineaux is an IDP to monitor.

Titans S Jordan Babineaux has played just 31 snaps in the team's first two games. He led the team in tackles last year. The Titans promoted Robert Johnson into the starting lineup at free safety and moved Michael Griffin to strong safety, demoting Babineaux at the end of training camp. It was a surprising move after they signed him to a new two-year, $5 million deal in March. It also hasn't worked out well so far. Johnson and Griffin are getting smoked in coverage.

The Titans are reportedly close to a long-term extension with free agent SS Jordan Babineaux. The sides can't sign off on the deal until March 13, but Babineaux is fully expected back in Nashville. With Michael Griffin sporting the franchise tag, the Titans can address the rest of their roster with both safety spots lined up.

The Titans are in long-term contract talks with free agent S Jordan Babineaux. The Titans can't formally sign Babineaux until after the free agency period because because they exercised an option in his 2011 contract to lower his cap number. However, they are clearly interested in retaining him. The sides could get a deal worked out in principle before March 13. Babineaux just can't officially sign on the dotted line until that date.

The Titans are now using a rotation at strong safety of Jordan Babineaux and Chris Hope. "We made more of an effort to get Chris in there," Titans coach Mike Munchak said of Hope's increased role against Buffalo in Week 13. Hope was credited with four tackles (all solo), while the starter Babineaux managed just two (one solo). This has become a situation to avoid in IDP leagues.

Although Chris Hope has returned from his broken forearm, the Titans will stick with Jordan Babineaux as their starting strong safety. Hope returned last Sunday, but was limited to roughly 30 snaps. Coach Mike Munchak plans to go with a similar rotation in Week 11. Babineaux's 61 tackles are second on the Titans.
