Asamoah (hip) was released with an injury settlement from the Falcons on Monday, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Asamoah started this season on injured reserve due to a hip ailment, and will now become a free agent. Just a year removed from signing a five-year, $22.5 million contract with the Falcons, Asamoah should garner interest around the league once healthy.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank said it still bothers him that Atlanta's offensive linemen didn't go after Saints S Kenny Vaccaro when he laid a questionable hit on Matt Ryan in Week 1.
The Falcons have made it a priority to get tougher up front. They inked RG Jon Asamoah, a nasty run blocker with a mean streak, and re-signed C Joe Hawley, who gave the unit a backbone when he was inserted into the starting lineup. Atlanta could get even more ferocious by drafting Auburn OT Greg Robinson.

Falcons agreed to terms with RG Jon Asamoah, formerly of the Chiefs.
Asamoah signing with the Falcons was another badly kept secret from the legal tampering period. The nasty guard with a mean streak reunites with ex-Chiefs GM Scott Pioli, who drafted Asamoah in Kansas City. The Falcons interior of the offensive line shapes up like this: LG Justin Blalock, C Joe Hawley, and RG Asamoah. GM Thomas Dimitroff still needs to find an offensive tackle.

According to ESPN's Adam Caplan, it would be a "small upset" if the Falcons didn't land free agent OG Jon Asamoah.
Caplan reports Asamoah would start at right guard, bookending LG Justin Blalock. The Falcons need multiple reinforcements on the offensive line, but securing Asamoah would be a good start. He's an effective pass blocker and plays with a mean streak. New assistant GM Scott Pioli drafted Asamoah in Kansas City.

The National Football Post reports the Falcons have an "extremely high degree of interest" in free agent G Jon Asamoah.
Asamoah has ties to assistant GM Scott Pioli and would help to upgrade one of the worst offensive lines in the league last season. The Jets are also expected to "make a play" for Asamoah, who is already drawing interest from multiple teams.

The New York Daily News reports the Jets will "make a play" for free agent G Jon Asamoah when the leagues three-day negotiating window opens.
Asamoah would be an immediate upgrade to a Jets' offensive line that was one of the worst run-blocking units in the league last season. Coming off a lackluster season, Asamoah could be one of the biggest steals of free agency, and signing him would be a solid move. Asamoah is our No. 5 free-agent guard.

ESPN Falcons reporter wonders if the Falcons could show interest in free agent G Jon Asamoah.
Asamoah was drafted by Scott Pioli and the Chiefs with the 68th pick in 2010. Pioli is now the assistant GM in Atlanta. The Falcons badly need help in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Asamoah was billed as a nasty run blocker coming out of Illinois. He seemed to fall out of favor last season in Kansas City. Asamoah is our No. 5 free-agent guard and is widely viewed as a potential steal.

Chiefs RG Jon Asamoah triggered an escalator in his rookie deal, raising his 2013 salary from $575,000 to $1.323 million.
Asamoah, a 2010 third-round pick, has started 31 of a possible 32 games at right guard for Kansas City over the last two seasons. He's part of a strong offensive line group, which should make new coach Andy Reid smile. Asamoah projects as an above-average run-blocking guard over the long-term. He's entering the final year of his contract.

Chiefs RG Jon Asamoah (thumb surgery) is expected back for Week 12.
The Chiefs' offensive line is normally their strong suit, but even that unit struggled in Sunday's ugly loss to the Bengals. They played without Asamoah and C Ryan Lilja (knee), and then lost LT Brandon Albert to a back injury during the game. "I'm not making excuses about the offensive line, but when you have guys who don't practice together on a consistent basis, it?Ts hard for everybody to be on the same page," coach Romeo Crennel said.
