Metchie will be one of four healthy wide receivers for the Texans heading into Thursday's game against the Jets, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Texans received expected bad news Tuesday when they learned that Stefon Diggs suffered a season-ending ACL tear in his right knee during this past Sunday's win over the Colts. Diggs' injury coupled with top wideout Nico Collins (hamstring) spending at least one more game on injured reserve opens the door for Metchie, Robert Woods and Xavier Hutchinson to handle expanded roles behind Tank Dell, who will temporarily settle in as the Texans' No. 1 receiver until Collins is ready to return. Metchie benefited from Diggs' early exit Sunday, drawing a season-high four targets and catching three passes for 29 yards.

Metchie caught three of four targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
Metchie had his most productive game of the season on a day when Stefon Diggs sustained a non-contact knee injury that may be season-ending. Two of Metchie's targets came on the same drive after Diggs was removed from the game. If the injury turns out to be significant and Diggs joins Nico Collins (hamstring) on the sidelines, Tank Dell would occupy the top of the depth chart, while Metchie, Xavier Hutchinson and Robert Woods take on greater roles as well.

Metchie didn't draw a target while playing 25 of the Texans' 66 snaps on offense in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
Though he was active for the third straight game and saw his highest snap share of the season with Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve and with Robert Woods (foot) inactive for the contest, Metchie didn't see any involvement in the passing attack. If Woods is cleared to play Week 7 against the Packers, Metchie would likely drop to fifth in the pecking order at receiver behind Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson and Woods.

Metchie caught his lone target for seven yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over Jacksonville.
EDGE Analysis
Metchie was active for the first time in four games, filling the roster spot opened up due to Tank Dell (chest) being inactive. Metchie was on the field for just nine snaps. Xavier Hutchinson (13 snaps) has held down the fifth wideout spot when all hands are healthy.

Metchie (coach's decision) was inactive for Week 2 against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Metchie has not suited up for either of the Texans' first two games, as it appears the coaching staff prefers Xavier Hutchinson as the fifth wideout while allotting a spot to Steven Sims as a returner.

Metchie (coach's decision) is inactive Week 1 against the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
Matchie was targeted in each of Houston's preseason contests, but when push came to shove, he was simply too far down on the depth chart in a loaded wide receiver room. With Sunday's inactive designation, it appears even the likes of Xavier Hutchinson and Steven Sims have surpassed Metchie, as both will be active for the season opener.

Metchie caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Saturday's preseason finale against the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Metchie is looking to earn one of the backup spots behind the starting trio of Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins and Tank Dell this upcoming season. The 24-year-old was coming off of a strong showing in the Texans' second preseason tilt when he had six receptions for 68 yards and a score. Metchie figures to either make the squad or land on the team's practice squad following a strong exhibition campaign.

Metchie caught six of seven targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Metchie had a couple of meh showings in the Hall of Fame Game and first preseason tilt, disappointing head coach DeMeco Ryans, but he responded Saturday. Metchie led the team in targets, receptions and yards as he positioned himself behind the team's top three wideouts. He's competing against Noah Brown (shoulder), Xavier Hutchinson (two of four targets, 20 yards), Steven Sims (two of two, 20 yards), Ben Skowronek (leg) and Robert Woods (zero targets, 13 snaps) for the back end of the wide receiver depth chart.

Metchie caught one of two targets for four yards in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over the Steelers.
EDGE Analysis
Metchie dropped the first pass thrown to him and didn't appear to respond in the way head coach DeMeco Ryans wanted to see following a quiet preseason opener last week in the Hall of Fame Game. The good news for Metchie is that neither of his main competitors -- Xavier Hutchinson nor Ben Skowronek -- shined as a receiver Friday night.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Friday that he wants to see how Metchie responds after a quiet preseason game Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Metchie caught one of two targets for four yards after an impressive start to training camp. The coach believes Metchie didn't play with the same speed and decisiveness as seen when he showed up at camp, but Ryans said he's not reading too much into one game. "I just put a lot into how guys respond the next time," Ryans said. For now, Metchie has fallen behind Xavier Hutchinson and Ben Skowronek.
