Former Panthers K John Kasay retired. Kasay, 43, joined Carolina ahead of their inaugural 1995 season and spent 15 of his 20 NFL seasons with the club. He went to one Pro Bowl, one Super Bowl and ranks sixth all-time in field goals made with 461. Only Morten Anderson, Gary Anderson, Jason Hanson, John Carney and Matt Stover have made more. Kasay will eventually find himself in the Panthers' ring of honor.

Saints released K John Kasay. Garrett Hartley proved his health, which meant Kasay never had a chance. Hartley is 17 years younger and has four years left on his contract. He'll be a strong fantasy kicking option for fantasy owners.

Garrett Hartley is expected to enter training camp as the Saints' first-team kicker, with John Kasay "nipping on his heels." Fully recovered from last year's hip injury, Hartley was "booting field goals with authority" in spring practices. The Saints have stayed with Hartley and his strong, accurate leg through several ups and downs. It's hard to imagine the 42-year-old Kasay winning this job unless Hartley gets a case of the "yips" in preseason action.

Saints re-signed K John Kasay. Kasay converted 28-of-34 field-goal attempts last season, but the 21-year veteran is likely returning only as a camp leg behind Garrett Hartley.

John Kasay is expected to be the Saints' kicker for the rest of the season. Garrett Hartley (hip) was placed on injured reserve this week. Kasay is 6-of-6 ont he season so far, including a 53-yarder against the Bears in Week 2. As a dome kicker supported by a high-powered offense, Kasay is a fine fantasy option.

Coach Sean Payton suggested that K John Kasay's roster spot is not in jeopardy after missing two kicks Thursday night. A rusty Kasay missed left on a 39-yard field goal and a point-after before converting a 38-yarder late in the game. "I thought that third kick was critical," Payton said. "I thought it was important for his own confidence."

Saints agreed to terms with K John Kasay, formerly of the Panthers. The 41-year-old Kasay must look spry compared to usual fall-back option John Carney. Kasay is being signed for insurance after Garrett Hartley came down with a hip tweak in Monday night's game. At this point, Hartley is not expected to miss regular-season action.

The Saints will sign K John Kasay, formerly of the Panthers, according to the Charlotte Observer. Saints kicker Garrett Hartley is nursing a hip injury that coach Sean Payton says is minor. Kasay looks like a camp leg for the fourth preseason game unless Hartley's condition worsens.

The Panthers have informed K John Kasay of his impending release. It's the end of an era in Carolina. Kasay is the only field goal kicker in Panthers history, starting out under Dom Capers in 1995. He's still an effective short field-goal artist, drilling at least 80 percent of his field goals in each of the past five seasons. Turning 42 in October, Kasay is expected to consider retirement. The Panthers are moving on from kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd as well.
