Brown (quad) did some individual work off to the side at Friday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
While still unable to practice, Brown at least showed some kind of hint at progress. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians all but ruled the speedy receiver out for Week 3, saying it would be "miraculous" if Brown were able to suit up for Monday Night Football against the Cowboys. Meanwhile, J.J. Nelson (hamstring) was a limited practice participant both Thursday and Friday.

Brown (quadriceps) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brown's absence wasn't surprising, given that Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians suggested earlier in the week that it would be "miraculous" if the wideout suited up Monday night against the Cowboys. Until Brown is able to complete at least a limited portion of practice, he shouldn't be viewed as a good bet to return to game action. J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown will be the primary beneficiaries of increased targets and enhanced snap counts if John Brown indeed misses a second straight contest in Week 3.

Head coach Bruce Arians doesn't believe Brown (quadriceps) will be able to suit up in Week 3 against the Cowboys, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports. "It would have to be miraculous," Arians said Monday.
EDGE Analysis
If Brown logs a second DNP in a row next Monday, he'll actually miss more games than a season ago, when his sickle-cell trait was first discovered. There's no telling when he'll receive clearance to take the practice field again, but until he does, he won't be a candidate to suit up for game day. During his absence, J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown will augment the passing attack behind clear-cut No. 1 option Larry Fitzgerald.

The Cardinals ruled Brown (quad) out for Week 2 in Indianapolis.
EDGE Analysis
Brown was bothered by his quad throughout the summer and appeared to aggravate it in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Lions. He didn't practice at all this week, which isn't isn't a good sign for his Week 3 availability. Jaron Brown and J.J. Nelson should have regular spots alongside Larry Fitzgerald in three-wide sets, with Brittan Golden and rookie third-round pick Chad Williams potentially also getting some snaps.

Brown (quad) was not present for the open portion of Friday's practice, ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss reports.
EDGE Analysis
Unavailable for most of training camp and the preseason, Brown aggravated his quad injury in a Week 1 loss to Detroit and didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday. Another update will be available when the Cardinals release their final injury report Friday afternoon, but it seems the fourth-year wideout is trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's game in Indianapolis. An absence would free up snaps and targets for Jaron Brown and J.J. Nelson.

Brown (quadriceps) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After visible struggles in the second half of Sunday's loss in Detroit and back-to-back DNPs to start Week 2 prep, Brown is on pace to be a weekly headache for the second year in row. On this occasion, he's tending to a quadriceps injury, which is consistent with the leg pains associated with his sickle-cell trait. He wasn't seen during the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, meaning treatment is superseding his regular regimen. Although Brown's status could receive some clarity by the release of Friday's injury report, an absence Sunday at Indianapolis would place J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown into elevated positions within the passing attack.

Brown didn't practice Wednesday due to a quadriceps injury, Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals cited Brown's hamstring on the injury report Wednesday, which could be the same one that hindered him throughout training camp and the preseason. At the time, head coach Bruce Arians mentioned Brown's sickle-cell trait induces longer recoveries. It's unclear how much time Brown will require this time to rid himself of the concern, but his ability (or lack thereof) to practice Thursday and/or Friday will be telling for his Week 2 availability. If it lingers, J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown would take on enhanced roles Sunday at Indianapolis.

Brown didn't appear to practice Wednesday but did catch some passes off to the side, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brown made it through Week 1 without any reported injury, catching four of nine targets for 32 yards while playing 63 of Arizona's 75 offensive snaps. He may be dealing with a minor ailment, but it's also possible the Cardinals are just limiting his practice workload in an effort to keep him fresh. Another update will be available Wednesday afternoon when the team releases its first injury report for Sunday's game in Indianapolis.

Brown gathered in four of nine targets for 32 yards during Sunday's defeat at Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Brown has been targeted nine-plus times on nine previous occasions in his career, during which he recorded three of his four 100-yard outings and at least 50 yards on all but two of them. Additionally, 38 yards marked his previous low when he received nine or more targets, so he was a victim of the Cardinals' lack of efficiency in the Week 1 passing attack. Due to the aforementioned track record and the team's commitment to an aerial attack, Brown should be able to take advantage of such volume as the season continues, assuming he's able to avoid the sickle-cell trait that impacted his conditioning throughout 2016.

Brown (quadriceps) brought in both of his targets for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Saturday's 24-14 preseason win over the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
After struggling to recover from a quadriceps injury throughout training camp -- and missing the first two preseason games as a result -- Brown made his presence felt with two impressive scores on his only pair of catches. The 27-year-old showed off his trademark speed and explosiveness on both plays, providing some reason for cautious optimism that his ailment is behind him. The one x-factor with respect to Brown's overall health continues to be his sickle-cell trait, which can flair up unexpectedly and also slow down his recovery from other injuries, as was reportedly the case with the quadriceps. Given that he missed the first two preseason tilts, it remains to be seen if Brown will be afforded some reps in next Thursday's preseason finale against the Broncos.
