Franklin was signed by the Chiefs off the practice squad Wednesday, the Kansas City Star reports. Franklin will serve as depth in the linebacking corps following a season-ending injury suffered by Derrick Johnson on Sunday. He probably won't see the field much barring an injury, but could play some on special teams.

Franklin signed with the Chiefs practice squad Monday, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports. Franklin will add another body for depth in the linebacking corps should one of the guys on the active roster suffer an injury. For now, he will contribute as a practice squad member.
