Powers totaled 53 tackles (48 solo), 10 passes defended, three interceptions, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble during the 2014 season.
During his first four years in the league, Powers never played more than 12 games in a given season. However, he hasn't been one of the game day inactives since joining the Cardinals in 2013, averaging 54 tackles, two picks, and one forced fumble per campaign. His tackle output this year was hindered by the presence of Antonio Cromartie, who was picked up in the offseason, but defensive coordinator Todd Bowles used six or seven defensive backs frequently, thereby allowing Powers to take the field for 70.3 percent of the defensive snaps, according to Football Outsiders. Cromartie is an impending unrestricted free agent, though, meaning Powers could regain a starting role next season.

Powers notched four tackles (three solo), one tackle for loss, and one interception during Sunday's victory versus Washington. Overall, he took the field for 49-of-60 defensive snaps, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Powers now leads the Cardinals in both picks (three) and passes defended (four), which is impressive considering the pedigree of the talent in the defensive backfield. While he isn't receiving a full workload, the battered state of the linebacking corps has forced the hand of defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, who is utilizing six defensive backs more often than not in recent weeks. Taking advantage of the confluence of events, Powers is knotted up with six other defenders for the league lead in interceptions.

Powers posted a fine line in Sunday's defeat in Denver, with a team-high seven solo tackles an one interception.
On the Broncos' second play of the second quarter, Powers picked off Peyton Manning, which supplemented nicely the cornerback's season-best tackle total. Powers also took over for Patrick Peterson upon his removal due to an injured ankle in the second half. As a result, he was on the field for 68-of-81 defensive snaps, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports. Peterson is expected to be OK, though, relegating Powers to passing downs once again.

Powers totaled five tackles (four solo) during Sunday's victory against the Giants in New York.
Powers earned the fifth most snaps (58-of-72) among Cardinals defensive backs this past weekend, according to FOX Sports 910 Phoenix. While he recorded his eighth career interception in Week 1, his status as a reserve cornerback keeps his IDP relevance in check.

ESPN Cardinals blogger Josh Weinfuss believes there's a "good chance" CB Jerraud Powers is a salary-cap casualty.
Powers is due $3 million, and would count $4.75 million against the cap. Powers started all 16 games last season, but was highly uneven opposite Patrick Peterson. He had a knack for breaking up passes, but also making mistakes. The Cardinals could possibly do better for cheaper opposite shut-down corner Peterson.

AzCardinals.com expects Jerraud Powers to start over Antoine Cason opposite Patrick Peterson.
Reporter Darren Urban "wouldn't be shocked" if Cason beat out Powers in camp, however. Urban believes Powers' experience playing for Cardinals coach Bruce Arians last season gives him a leg up. Cason has been a starter each of the past three years, but played poorly in 2012. He's also making less than Powers. In other words, Powers is the better bet to start.

Jerraud Powers has been running as the No. 2 cornerback over Antoine Cason in Cardinals OTAs.
Cason has been a starter each of the past three seasons, but it's not a surprise after Powers brought home a three-year, $10.5 million deal compared to Cason's one-year, $2 million pact. Cason could fall back to dime duties with Javier Arenas highly experienced in the slot. A rangy press corner, Cason is best suited to the outside. The Cardinals are deep at cornerback one year after being thin.

Cardinals agreed to terms with CB Jerraud Powers, formerly of the Colts, to a three-year contract.
New head coach Bruce Arians has his fingerprints all over this one. He got a first-hand look at Powers in practice every day last season while both were in Indianapolis. Now Powers will step in as a starter opposite Patrick Peterson in the Cardinals' thin secondary.

Free agent CB Jerraud Powers will visit the Cardinals then Chargers.
Both teams are extremely desperate for cornerback help. Arizona has just two under contract for 2013, and both of San Diego's starters from 2012 are free agents. Powers has a staff connection with both organizations.

According to the Indy Star, the Colts view free agent Jerraud Powers as a No. 2 corner.
Powers wants to be paid like a No. 1 corner, so he's likely going to hit the open market later this afternoon. He's been steadily linked to San Diego, where Tom Telesco is now the general manager. Telesco was part of the Colts' front office when they drafted Powers.
