We'll have to see what Maclin's level of participation was and how the Chiefs list him for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, but the wideout's return to practice Friday bodes well for his Week 9 availability.

Maclin is an addition to the Chiefs' Week 9 injury report, so this is a situation to monitor as Sunday's game against the Jaguars approaches. While the Chiefs' No. 1 wideout has topped out at 78 receiving yards this season, he has been consistently involved in the team's offense, averaging 4.3 catches and 53.7 receiving yards per game to date.

Maclin finished Sunday's game against the Colts with three catches for 43 yards, including just his second receiving touchdown of the season.

EDGE Analysis

The Chiefs have a history of poor wide receiver production and it's quite possibly a systematic issue. Maclin was targeted 10 times in Sunday's game and played 88 percent of the snaps, but hasn't had more than six receptions in a game this season and is on pace for an extremely underwhelming season after a solid first season with the Chiefs in 2015. Following three straight weeks of lackluster production against subpar passing defenses, Maclin will now face a stingy Jaguars pass defense in Week 9.

Maclin caught four of five targets for 40 yards Sunday against the Saints.

EDGE Analysis

This was another disappointing outing from the veteran wide receiver in what was a promising matchup against a porous Saints secondary. Quarterback Alex Smith threw two touchdown passes in this one, but they went to Tyreek Hill and running back Spencer Ware. While Maclin is still ahead of the rookie Hill on the wide receiver depth chart for now, this offense tends to overlook the wide receiver position.

Maclin nabbed all three of the passes that came his way in Sunday's win, tallying 49 yards.

EDGE Analysis

Thirty-eight of Maclin's yards came on a beautiful deep ball for 38 yards late in the second quarter. The pass nearly doubled Maclin's previous season long. The Chief's top receiver had, from Week 12 of last season through Week 1 of this year, scored seven touchdowns in seven games - but has been scoreless in his last four games and hasn't topped 80 yards receiving in his past nine. The expanding role of Jamaal Charles should adds to the Chiefs already intimidating running game and gives Maclin a legitimate competitor for targets.

Maclin caught five passes for 78 yards on eight targets in Sunday's 43-14 loss to the Steelers.

EDGE Analysis

The output was disappointing considering Alex Smith attempted 50 passes, with five different Chiefs drawing either seven or eight targets. While still the clear top option, Maclin has accounted for a modest 22 percent of his team's targets this season, after drawing 26 percent last year despite missing one game. He does have 9.3 targets per game -- up from last year's 8.3 -- but there's no chance Smith will maintain his average of 42 pass attempts per game. If the Chiefs start to look more like last year's playoff squad, Maclin's volume could become a major concern.

Maclin caught four of seven targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 24-3 win over the Jets.

EDGE Analysis

Maclin beat Darrelle Revis deep at least twice, but he could not connect with Alex Smith. Even though he had a quiet game, Maclin still tied for the team lead in targets with Travis Kelce. He's got a decent matchup next week at Pittsburgh, so a rebound performance is possible.

Maclin hauled in six of 15 targets for 68 yards in Sunday's 19-12 loss to the Texans.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran receiver saw a lion's share of the targets, with the next closest pass-catcher, Travis Kelce totaling less than half of his looks (seven). Maclin has picked up right where he left off last season in terms of his involvement in the Chiefs' passing game, but has managed to bring in only 50 percent of the 22 targets he's seen over the first two games of the season.

Maclin, who did not practice Thursday due to a personal matter, is not listed on the Chiefs' Week 2 injury report.

EDGE Analysis

After a one-day absence from practice, Maclin returned to the field Friday, and is thus on track to start at wideout for the Chiefs on Sunday against the Texans. Maclin logged five catches (on seven targets) for 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 1's win over the Chargers.

Maclin, who did not practice Thursday due to a personal matter, was back on the field with his teammates Friday, Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.
