Free agent K Jeff Reed wants to return to the NFL. Reed hasn't kicked in a game since 2010 when he made 24-of-32 field goals in 14 games with the Steelers and 49ers. The longtime Steelers kicker is still just 35 and owns an 82.2 career success rate on field goals. He says he's spoken with ex-Steelers OC Ken Whisenhunt and the Titans about a potential workout.

The Chargers are reportedly interested in kickers Jeff Reed and Nick Novack to replace Nate Kaeding, who was lost for the year in Week 1. Earlier today we heard they were eyeing Dave Rayner as well. Whoever San Diego ends up signing will draw some fantasy consideration in the Chargers' dynamic offense.

Seahawks released K Jeff Reed and DT Junior Siavii. Reed connected on 4-of-5 preseason field goal attempts, but Seattle preferred Steven Hauschka's stronger leg. Siavii recorded 30 tackles in 14 games and six starts last season.

Seahawks agreed to terms with K Jeff Reed on an undisclosed contract. Reed will battle 2008 seventh-rounder Brandon Coutu to replace veteran Olindo Mare. Owner of a career 82.2 percent success rate on field goals, Reed should be considered the favorite -- as long as he can stay out of the slammer for the next five weeks.

Free agent K Jeff Reed worked out for the Seahawks Tuesday. Seattle has only the untested Brandon Coutu in camp after losing Olindo Mare to Carolina. Reed drilled 9-of-10 field goals in a late-season trial with the 49ers after being released by Pittsburgh at mid-season.
