Bills signed DL Jarron Gilbert off the Jets' practice squad. Gilbert looks great getting off the bus (and jumping out of pools), but he's been an ineffective pro. The Bills will give him a look-see down the stretch.

The Jets are experimenting with practice squad DL Jarron Gilbert at tight end. With Jeff Cumberland (Achilles) done for the year, the Jets are looking for a blocking, No. 3 tight end. Gilbert was recruited out of high school as a tight end before being converted to the defensive line.

Jets waived or released DT Jarron Gilbert, DL Lorenzo Washingon, LB Matt Berning, LB Eddie Jones, LB Joey LaRocque, S Byron Landor, CB Ellis Lankster, CB Julian Posey and DB Tracy Wilson. Gilbert was active for one game last season, notching a single tackle. One player who was not cut was LB Aaron Maybin, though ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports "he's hardly a lock to be around for the season opener."
