The Vikings are expected to get rookie WR Jarius Wright more involved in their offensive game plan. With Jerome Simpson (suspension) out until Week 4, the Vikings are at a weekly disadvantage with Michael Jenkins as their starting split end. Wright (ankle) returned to practice this week and will be making his NFL debut Sunday if activated. Ideally, Wright will be used to work the perimeter on passing downs, with Percy Harvin seeing more single-coverage looks in the slot.

The Vikings expect rookie WR Jarius Wright (ankle) to make his NFL debut this week. Wright has been sidelined since Minnesota's preseason finale. "If he is (ready) and he's able to get up, we'd like to utilize his abilities," Frazier said. "We think he has some talent and he could give us something. We'll see how he practices this week and make a decision. ... We think he'll be ready." With Jerome Simpson set to return in Week 4, Wright remains firmly off the fantasy radar.

Rookie WR Jarius Wright (ankle) returned to Vikings practice on Wednesday. Wright hadn't practiced since going down in Minnesota's preseason finale. Even if Wright is healthy enough to play this week, he'll almost certainly be among the Vikings' game-day inactives.

Rookie Vikings WR Jarius Wright (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 1. Wright hasn't practiced since going down in Minnesota's preseason finale, and is likely dealing with a high-ankle sprain. It's a big disappointment for the No. 118 overall pick, who had a shot at carving out some snaps during Jerome Simpson's three-game suspension. Wright should be considered week-to-week.

Jarius Wright (ankle) did not participate in Vikings practice Wednesday. Wright suggested the injury was a day-to-day affair after suffering it in the Vikings' preseason finale, but that's apparently not the case. He could be dealing with a high-ankle sprain. Even in Minnesota's shaky receiver corps, Wright isn't expected to have a major role as a rookie.

Vikings fourth-round WR Jarius Wright exploded for 122 yards and a touchdown on six receptions and added a 20-yard end-around in the preseason finale versus the Texans. Wright entered the game without a preseason catch, but opened eyes with a 59-yard sideline touchdown. Veteran Devin Aromashodu kept pace in the battle for Jerome Simpson's early-season fill-in, hauling in five catches for 89 yards, including a 58-yard score of his own. Although Wright exited with an ankle injury, he suggested after the game that it was merely a day-to-day ailment. Both players are expected to make the final roster.

Vikings rookie Jarius Wright practiced at flanker and slot receiver during spring practices. He's being groomed as Percy Harvin's direct backup -- and perhaps his eventual replacement. Presently, Wright is competing with Stephen Burton, fellow rookie Greg Childs, Emmanuel Arceneaux, and Devin Aromashodu to be Minnesota's No. 4 receiver. Harvin, Jerome Simpson, and Michael Jenkins are Nos. 1-3.
