Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Goff (illness) will return from the reserve/COVID-19 list and be ready to start Week 17 in Seattle, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit has yet to officially activate Goff from the list, though that looks to be just a formality now that the quarterback has cleared the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocol. Goff was able to test out of the protocol in one week, as he reportedly first contracted the virus last Monday. While Goff was sidelined for Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Falcons over the weekend, Tim Boyle stepped in for his second start of the season and completed 24 of 34 attempts for 187 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Goff (illness) won't be available for Sunday's game against the Falcons after he wasn't activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Goff still in quarantine while he continues to test positive for the virus, Tim Boyle will pick up his second career start in Atlanta. The change from Goff to Boyle likely amounts to a significant downgrade for the Lions' skill-position players, as the latter signal-caller struggled mightily in his first start Week 10 against the Browns. He completed 15 of 23 attempts for 77 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions for a low-tempo Lions offense that ran only 46 plays in that game.

Coach Dan Campbell said Friday's "it's highly unlikely" Goff (COVID-19) will play Sunday against the Falcons, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Goff tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and can technically still clear league protocols in time for Sunday's game, though the team doesn't expect him to be available. Barring a drastic change in Goff's outlook, Tim Boyle or David Blough will start for Detroit this weekend.

Goff said in a radio interview with 97.1 The Ticket Detroit that he tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports. "I'm feeling good. It's pretty much a mild cold. I'm feeling fine. I had some symptoms pop up really Sunday night after the game."
EDGE Analysis
Goff relayed that he "feels fine," but he admitted that he didn't "know the chances" of him playing this weekend against the Falcons. The quarterback's comments imply that he's vaccinated, since unvaccinated players are subject to automatic 10-day quarantines. Instead, Goff will have a shot to play Sunday in Atlanta six days after he tested positive, but he'll first need to clear the necessary protocols. Goff seems unlikely to be activated before the Lions resume practicing Wednesday, so Tim Boyle could begin the week by handling reps with the first-team offense.

The Lions placed Goff on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
One day after completing 21 of 26 pass attempts for 216 yards and three touchdowns en route to guiding the Lions to an upset win over the Cardinals, Goff's status suddenly is in question heading into the team's Week 16 matchup with the Falcons. At this stage, it's unknown if Goff is vaccinated or if he's dealing with any symptoms of the virus, factors that ultimately will determine whether he gains clearance for Sunday's game in Atlanta. Tim Boyle would presumably be in line for his second start of the season if Goff is unable to play this weekend.

Goff completed 21 of 26 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns during Sunday's 30-12 win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
In what might be the most surprising upset of the season, Goff only needed to throw 26 passes to lead the short-handed Lions to a rout over the heavily favored Cardinals with Craig Reynolds, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds as his top weapons. While it's not clear if Detroit is turning a corner with head coach Dan Campbell now calling the plays, Goff has thrown three touchdowns in two of the past three games and the Lions are now 2-2-1 overall with Campbell at the helm of the offense. Although Goff won't be getting T.J. Hockenson (finger) back this year, D'Andre Swift (shoulder) and Jamaal Williams (illness) could return for a Week 16 matchup with an Atlanta defense that is 31st in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks.

Goff completed 24 of 39 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown with an interception in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Broncos. He also gained 10 yards on two carries.
EDGE Analysis
There was no opportunity for late-game heroics in this one for Goff, as the short-handed Lions got steamrolled in Denver. He did hit Kalif Raymond for a seven-yard score in the second quarter, but it was effectively the only highlight of the day for Detroit. Goff still has a fairly impressive 6:2 TD:INT over his last three games, but he'll face another stingy secondary in a Week 15 contest against the Cardinals.

Goff (illness) practiced fully Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Lions listed 10 players with illness next their names on their second injury report of Week 14, but Goff was the only one to log every practice rep. With his health cleared up ahead of Sunday's game in Denver, he may again be without D'Andre Swift (shoulder) this weekend, while T.J. Hockenson's (hand) status is also in question.

Goff (illness) returned to practice Thursday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
In the midst of a flu outbreak in the Lions' locker room, Goff was among six Lions not to practice Wednesday for that very reason. Now that he's back on the field, he appears to be good to go moving forward, but his activity level won't be known until the release of Thursday's injury report.

Goff didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough due to an illness, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Lions are dealing with a mini flu outbreak at the moment, with Goff seemingly the biggest name to be told to stay home Wednesday. He's coming off NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the team's first win of the season this past Sunday, when he completed 25 of 41 passes for 296 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in a 29-17 win against the Vikings. Goff will have two more chances to get back on the practice field this week.
