White is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets, with his wife expecting to give birth to the couple's child.
EDGE Analysis
With White unavailable for Sunday's contest, look for Rex Burkhead to assume a larger role in Patriots' Week 3 offense, as he figures to absorb a portion of White's change-of-pace duties behind lead back Sony Michel.

White is in line to miss Sunday's game against the Jets with his wife expecting to give birth to the couple's child, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The report comes as a late surprise ahead of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff after there was no indication heading into the weekend that White's availability for Week 3 was in any jeopardy. With the 27-year-old set to leave the team to spend time with his expanding family, Rex Burkhead should handle the majority of the passing-down work usually reserved for White. Rookie Damien Harris could also see an elevated snap count as the third option behind Burkhead and top rusher Sony Michel.

White rushed three times for 10 yards and caught three of four targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 43-0 win over the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
It looked like White was about to throw in a dud, but a 10-yard receiving touchdown with 2:10 remaining in the fourth quarter salvaged his day. He ceded the majority of backfield work to Sony Michel (85 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries), and volume could be an issue moving forward with new addition Antonio Brown soaking up a large share of targets in the passing game -- he had a team-high eight looks in this one -- and Michel carrying the load on the ground.

White carried the ball four times for 26 yards, also chipping in five receptions (seven targets) for 56 yards in Sunday's 33-3 win over the Steelers.
EDGE Analysis
Sony Michel got the bulk of the rushing work (15 carries) as expected, leaving White to do most of his damage as a receiver. The 27-year-old should continue to serve the receiving back role for an offense that loves completing short passes to playmakers in space. White's skill set definitely lends itself better to PPR formats, making him flex-worthy in those formats against an inexperienced Dolphins defense next Sunday.

While lead back Sony Michel has displayed improved pass-catching ability in training camp, White "is going to be the guy in passing situations," Jeff Howe of the Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Howe adds, "though it might not be prevalent in the preseason, look for a heavy dose of two-back packages to help the Patriots field the best possible collection of five skill players." White is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he logged 94 carries for 425 yards and five TDs and a PPR-friendly 87 catches on 123 targets for 751 yards and seven receiving scores in 16 games. While Michel's perch atop the team's running back depth chart is secure when he's healthy, and both versatile Rex Burkhead and rookie Damien Harris are in the mix for complementary touches, White is poised to continue to excel in his usual change-of-pace role, thanks to the trust he's earned from QB Tom Brady and the team's coaching staff. It's a playing context that gives the 27-year-old a solid floor in PPR-heavy scoring formats.

White will receive a $250,000 bonus to make up for a contract incentive he narrowly missed in 2018, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off the best campaign of his career, White looks like a major bargain for the Patriots heading into the second season of a three-year, $12 million contract. The team will give him the bonus as a show of goodwill, perhaps hoping to ease the negotiation process if there's discussion of an extension next offseason. Backfield mate Sony Michel may be ready for more receiving work in his second pro season, but there's little question White will continue to serve as the top running back for clear passing situations.

White carried twice for four yards and caught one of his four targets for five yards in Sunday's 13-3 win over the Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
EDGE Analysis
The game-flow that ran through the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in NFL history did not favor an abundance of touches for White, who caught a staggering 15 passes against the Chargers in the divisional round of the playoffs. Looking ahead, the 27-year-old is slated to remain a key cog in the Patriots offense, with the 2014 fourth-rounder under contract with New England through the 2020 campaign. White is thus set to reprise his change-of-pace role with the team in 2019, an assignment that yielded 94 carries for 425 yards and five TDs on the ground and a PPR-friendly 87 catches on 123 targets for 751 yards and seven receiving scores in 16 games this past season.

White carried six times for 23 yards and hauled in four of his six targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 37-31 AFC Championship win over the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
Meanwhile, Sony Michel logged 29 carries and Rex Burkhead ran 12 times, but as usual White (who caught a staggering 15 passes against the Chargers in the Divisional round of the playoffs) remained involved in New England's passing game Sunday. That doesn't figure to change when the Patriots take on the Rams in Super Bowl LIII.

White didn't receive a single carry in Sunday's 41-28 Divisional Round win over the Chargers, but he caught an NFL postseason record-tying 15 passes on 17 targets for 97 yards.
EDGE Analysis
White tied a record held by a fellow receiving specialist out of the backfield -- Darren Sproles also caught 15 passes in a playoff game as a member of the Saints back in 2011. Like many of his teammates, White's no stranger to postseason success, and he's likely to make fantasy owners happy once again when the Patriots travel to Kansas City for the AFC Championship. His high volume through the air in a game which the Patriots led throughout is encouraging for White's chances of significantly contributing regardless of game flow.

White carried four times for 30 yards while adding four catches on five targets for 39 yards and a TD in Sunday's 38-3 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
White thus finishes up the 2018 regular season with 94 carries for 425 yards and five TDs on the ground and 87 catches on 123 targets for 751 yards and seven receiving scores. All that adds up to PPR-friendly campaign for the 26-year-old back, who is under contract with the Patriots through the 2020 season. Looking ahead, the change-of-pace ace is line line to remain a key cog in the Patriots' offense when the team returns to action Jan. 13, in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.
