CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora passes along "buzz among GMs" that free agent Jake Long is likely to re-sign with the Dolphins. Perhaps Long was using the Rams as a leverage ploy all along, though La Canfora concedes St. Louis is "still in the hunt." SI's Peter King predicted that we'll have an answer on Long's 2013 whereabouts by tonight or early Monday. Once Long picks a destination, look for Andre Smith and Sebastian Vollmer to sign deals shortly thereafter. All three are repped by the same agency (CAA).

Rams GM Les Snead indicated Sunday evening that the club remains optimistic about its chances of landing free agent Jake Long. "We're still chatting," said Snead, adding that Long's "health is not a problem" after he passed a battery of physical exams in St. Louis. Obviously, money is going to determine where Long lands. He will sign with the highest bidder.

Free agent LT Jake Long didn't meet with Dolphins brass on Saturday. Apparently, they were all already in Arizona for the owner's meetings. All has been mysteriously quiet on the Long front since he left St. Louis on Friday, suggesting either he can't get anyone to up their offers, or a quiet bidding war has ensued. We'd guess the former. Per reporter Armando Salguero, the ball is in Long's court.

The Palm Beach Post reports that "momentum appears to be growing" for free agent left tackle Jake Long to re-sign with the Dolphins. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora adds that Long has been spending time at the Dolphins' facility since he flew back to Miami on Friday night. The Dolphins are reportedly "making a charge" to sign Long, but the money isn't expected to be close to what he wants -- $10 million annually. Long's offensive line teammates are campaigning for a return, but in the end money talks. $7-8 million annually might be the best he gets.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports free agent LT Jake Long "checked out fine" in his Rams physical, and there were "no red flags." The sides' inability to agree to a deal is all about money. The Rams' offer surely takes into account Long's recent injury history, but there are no current worries. While it was obviously a good sign for the Dolphins' chances of re-signing Long that he left St. Louis without a contract, there haven't been any rumblings he's on the verge of re-upping with Miami. That could change in a hurry over the weekend.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are "very encouraged" by free agent LT Jake Long leaving St. Louis without a contract. Per a league source, however, Long is drawing interest from multiple teams, and is "willing to explore those interests." Long's future appears to be 50-50 between Miami and a non-South Beach locale. The Rams could still very easily sweeten their offer and seal a deal both sides seem eager for.

USA Today confirms the Dolphins are "mounting a charge" to re-sign free agent LT Jake Long. Per a source "informed of the negotiations," the Dolphins have talked to Long on Friday, and are "trying to bridge the gap they've had in previous negotiations." The Rams' offer clearly isn't yet to Long's liking, so the Dolphins should have a legit chance to keep their blindside protector. Long's play has slipped in recent years, but he's still a far better option than Jonathan Martin.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports free agent LT Jake Long is ready to leave St. Louis without a deal Friday, and that "multiple teams" are showing interest. Long spent three days in St. Louis, but it's obviously not a good sign for the Rams that he's leaving without having signed on the dotted line. Miami is believed to be his other serious suitor, but it sounds like are other teams are ready to get in the mix. With a host of fallback options having come off the market during Long's marathon visit, the Rams may have cost themselves their best chance at upgrading Sam Bradford's blindside situation.

The Rams and Dolphins are both still negotiating with free agent LT Jake Long, but Long has yet to leave St. Louis. Both teams want Long at "their price," and the protracted talks suggest St. Louis' price may not be big enough to lure Long away from South Beach. We should get a resolution before sundown.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are making a "strong push" to re-sign free agent LT Jake Long. Long took an extended visit with the Rams this week. He met with the coaches, had a dinner, stayed the night and even passed a physical. But there's no deal yet, which suggests the two sides have been unable to come to terms on a contract. We now appear to be in a "bidding war" situation, something the Dolphins haven't haven't been scared of this week.
