While the majority of rookie seventh-round picks have been desperately clawing for third-string spots, Funk has spent his summer competing with Xavier Jones for No. 2 standing on the Los Angeles depth chart, behind presumed starter Darrell Henderson after Cam Akers suffered an Achilles tear in August. The addition of Michel makes things a bit more crowded, but Funk is still in good shape relative to other late-round picks, with his position (RB) arguably the biggest question mark for an otherwise-stellar team. Granted, he could end up on the practice squad if the Rams only keep three running backs.

Funk rushed five times for 12 yards and brought in his only target for minus-5 yards in the Rams' 13-6 preseason loss to the Chargers on Saturday night.

The rookie recently received praise from head coach Sean McVay for his work in training camp thus far, but he was unable to validate the accolades much Saturday with an inefficient performance.
