Davis signed with the Redskins on Tuesday. Davis was signed off the Chiefs' practice squad. He will provide some depth at the linebacker position for the Redskins.

Davis was released by the Patriots on Wednesday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports. Davis was dropped from the 53-man roster to open a spot for Akeem Ayers, who was officially acquired from the Titans on Wednesday after he passed his physical. The 24-year-old Davis appeared in three games this season for New England, logging a single tackle.

The Patriots promoted Davis from their practice squad Saturday, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports. Davis will provide depth along the second level Sunday against Cincinnati, with Dont'a Hightower (knee) and Jamie Collins (thigh) both questionable to play. Wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins was waived to make room on the active roster.

Patriots promoted LB Ja'Gared Davis from the practice squad. Davis gets the call one day after MLB Brandon Spikes (knee) was placed on injured reserve. Dane Fletcher is expected to fill in at middle linebacker, though he won't be an every-down player.
