Brissett completed six of eight passes for 57 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Cardinals' 27-7 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday night. He also rushed once for two yards.
EDGE Analysis
Brissett and the Cardinals' offense started slowly with a five-play drive that culminated in a punt, but the second possession was a different story. The veteran signal-caller helmed an 11-play, 67-yard march he capped off with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Simi Fehoko and in which he recorded five completions overall. Brissett had 12- and 17-yard connections with Andre Baccellia and Xavier Weaver during the drive, and he was done for the night following the scoring toss. Brissett is firmly entrenched as Kyler Murray's primary back up as the regular season approaches.

Brissett is slated to sign a contract with the Cardinals, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brissett's arrival in Arizona will mark the sixth different organization as he prepares for the 10th campaign of his career. Overall, he's made 53 starts in 87 appearances, including five of eight in his second stint with the Patriots last season. Brissett will slot into the backup QB role behind starter Kyler Murray while Clayton Tune slides to No. 3 on the depth chart.

Brissett finished the 2024 regular season with 95 completions on 161 passing attempts for 826 yards, with two TDs and an interception in eight games.
EDGE Analysis
Brissett, who added 15 carries for 62 yards in that span, went 1-4 while starting the Patriots' first five games of the season until rookie first-rounder Drake Maye took over. The veteran QB is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but it's possible he could remain with New England in 2025 in a backup capacity. That said, the team may opt to roll with 2024 sixth-rounder Joe Milton as Maye's top backup, and in that scenario Brissett would become an option for another team looking for a respected and experienced No. 2 signal-caller.

Brissett will serve as a backup in Sunday's game against the Titans to Drake Maye, who will start after clearing concussion protocol, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brissett replaced Maye in the first half of last Sunday's 25-22 win over the Jets after the rookie signal-caller was forced out of the contest after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit that landed him in the protocol. With Maye having been cleared for Week 9 action, Brissett is slated to reprise his usual duties as the No. 2 quarterback.

Brissett completed 15 of 24 passes for 132 yards, without a touchdown or interception, after replacing Drake Maye (concussion) in the first half of Sunday's 25-22 win over the Jets. Brissett added three rushing attempts for 11 yards and threw a two-point conversion.
EDGE Analysis
Brissett led the Patriots to an upset win with a pair of second-half touchdown drives, both of which were capped by Rhamondre Stevenson touchdown runs. The veteran quarterback threw a two-point conversion to Stevenson after the running back's second rushing score, which came with 22 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Brissett started New England's first five games but has only two touchdown passes this season, so he won't be an appealing fantasy option if Maye is unable to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol before the Patriots head to Tennessee for a Week 9 matchup that could have significant implications near the top of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed Wednesday that that Brissett will move into the backup role while rookie Drake Maye starts Sunday's game against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
From the moment the Patriots selected Maye third overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, it was inevitable that he would eventually claim the starting job. However, to begin the season, the team turned to the experienced Brissett rather than rushing the rookie into action. With New England sitting on a 1-4 record entering Week 6 and averaging just 12.4 points per game, Maye will now be given the opportunity to help spark the team's struggling attack while Brissett moves into the No. 2 role.

Brissett is expected to move into a backup role Week 6 with the Patriots planning to start Drake Maye in Sunday's game against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though he won the starting job coming out of the preseason, Brissett never looked to be in line for a long-term stay atop the depth chart after the Patriots selected Maye with the No. 3 overall pick in April's draft. After getting off to a 1-4 start while Brissett presided over an offense that ranked 31st in the league with averages of 250.8 yards and 12.4 points per game through five weeks, the Patriots are now ready to turn the keys over to Maye. Brissett will slide back into the familiar No. 2 role he's occupied across multiple stops in his NFL career, and if Maye stays healthy and provides a lift to the offense, the Patriots could even explore moving the 31-year-old veteran to a quarterback-needy team ahead of the Nov. 5 trade deadline. Brissett is on an expiring contract and carries a modest cap number of $7.88 million.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo was non-committal Monday when asked if Brissett would retain the starting quarterback job heading into Sunday's game against the Texans, Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston reports. "All positions are always being evaluated. We haven't had our full staff meeting. That's a conversation, not only at [the quarterback] spot but all the spots, of how to get better as a football team," Mayo said, when asked if Brissett gives the team the best chance to win.
EDGE Analysis
The Patriots have limped to a 1-4 start to the season while Brissett has completed just 58.5 percent of his passes for 5.2 yards per attempt and a 2:1 TD:INT through his five starts. While shoddy play from the offensive line hasn't helped, Brissett enjoyed a relatively clean pocket in this past Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Dolphins and still misfired on several key throws that could have made a difference. Mayo and his staff will take Brissett's body of work through the first five weeks into consideration before deciding whether to stick with the 31-year-old journeyman as the team's starter or turn the offense over to 2024 third overall pick Drake Maye.

Brissett completed 18 of 34 passes for 160 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and added a 10-yard rush on his only carry in the Patriots' 15-10 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Brissett put together another middling passing performance overall, mustering his fifth straight sub-170-yard tally to open the campaign. Brissett also failed to throw a touchdown for the third time in five contests, although he did see what could have been a game-winning scoring strike to Ja'Lynn Polk reversed on replay when it was ruled the receiver did not bring down his heel inbounds. Head coach Jerod Mayo appears steadfast in his commitment to not expose rookie Drake Maye too early considering his team's offensive-line issues, so Brissett appears likely to start a Week 6 home matchup against the Texans.

Coach Jerod Mayo said Monday that Brissett remains the Patriots' starting quarterback, Taylor Kyles of CLNSMedia.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brissett is coming off another ugly loss, this time completing 19 of 32 passes for 168 yards, one touchdown and one interception (a pick-six) in New England's 30-13 defeat at the hands of the 49ers in Week 4. He also had three rushing yards on two carries, took a whopping six sacks and fumbled three times, losing one. That actually constituted a step up from Brissett's performance in Week 3 in which he was held to 98 passing yards without a touchdown in a loss to the Jets. Mayo stated that he will "always reserve the right to do something else" and is "always going to do what's best for the organization," per Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald, but the Patriots aren't ready to turn to rookie first-round pick Drake Maye yet given the shoddy performance of the team's offensive line. Brissett will get another chance to line up under center during Sunday's divisional matchup against the Dolphins at home.
