Jeffcoat (hamstring) was placed on the Brown's PUP list Friday, Dan Labbe of cleveland.com reports.

Jeffcoat is reportedly nursing an injured hamstring that he suffered during Thursday's team conditioning test. Entering his third season in the league, Jeffcoat figures to serve as a depth linebacker for a Browns team that added the likes of Demario Davis and Joe Schobert to the linebacking corps this offseason. In his first two seasons, Jeffcoat has recorded six tackles in nine career games.

Jeffcoat was released by the Redskins on Tuesday. Jeffcoat was removed from the roster to open a spot for nose tackle Barry Cofield. He appeared in just one game with the Redskins this season, but is still just 23 years old, and should be able to land at least a practice squad spot somewhere, if not with Washington.

The Redskins promoted Jeffcoat from their practice squad Tuesday, the Washington Post reports. Despite leading the Texas Longhorns in both tackles (86) and sacks (13) last season, Jeffcoat went undrafted, eventually signing with the Seahawks in May. He did not make the cut out of training camp, but Jeffcoat will get an opportunity to provide depth at outside linebacker for Washington, with Brian Orakpo nursing an ankle injury.
