The Vikings announced Josh Freeman will start Monday night's Week 7 game against the Giants. The plan all along was for the Vikings to settle on a starter by Wednesday so that whoever it ended up being could gain some chemistry with the first-team offense during the practice week. It would have been a major surprise had Freeman not been named the starter. Christian Ponder will be the No. 2, while Matt Cassel will be inactive or possibly even released. Freeman will be a QB2 this week. His insertion into the lineup is a boost to everyone on offense.

Ok let me know if you've heard this one before... 3 backup QBs walk into a Bar...The bartender says to them - if you can prove your case as starting QB I'll give you a free drink - The newest b/up QB says - I've started more games than either of these guys and have been to the playoffs . . .The 2nd b/up says - well I've got more passing yds and better stats this season than those guys - The 3rd b/up says - well I'm the only one of use who has thrown 2 tds in one game this season. . .The Bartender looks @ them and says - those are all compelling arguments but I one more question - who is your opponent this week - all 3 QBs say "The Giants" - the bartender looks up and says - FREE DRINKS all around !
