The NFL and the NFLPA have not finalized an agreement on a new drug policy as of late Friday night, but Gordon remains in position to have his suspension reduced -- likely to 10 games -- if an agreement is reached as expected, the Akron Beacon-Journal reports.
The NFL's VP of PR Greg Aiello released a statement late Friday night indicating that the agreement has not been finalized, as there are still significant unresolved issues to be sorted out. The 32 player reps voted to approve the agreement earlier in the day Friday, but the NFLPA still needs to finalize the deal despite receiving the representatives' approval. In any case, a reduction to 10 games for a fourth career violation of the proposed new policy for his most recent positive marijuana test, Gordon faces an additional two games as a result of his July 5 DWI charge.
If I break a rule at my job, I get written up. If I continue to break rules, I no longer have a job. Why should it be any different for this guy? Give me a goddamn break. Stop making excuses for him. He's a tremendously talented football player who refuses to grow up. You wanna smoke pot and still have a job, practice the phrase "you want fries with that?". Otherwise, act like a goddamn professional. Period. You can debate about marijuana all you want. As long as your employer says you're not allowed to smoke it, you don't smoke it if you want to work there. Period. There is no argument. It's a free country. You're allowed to get a crappy job, where you can do anything you want. Hell, you're free to have no job at all, and have all the freedom in the world as you live off of half-eaten sandwiches and stay warm by the barrel-fire.

But technically under the new policy, he didn't break any of the rules so why is he getting punished?
