The Chiefs released Maclin on Friday, the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
After wrapping up phase 2 of the Chiefs' offseason program Thursday, general manager John Dorsey shockingly opted to move on from their No. 1 wideout. In reality, the move may have made with salary-cap implications in mind, as Maclin was due $9.75 million in base salary for the upcoming campaign. On top the hefty contract, he also missed four games in 2016 due to a groin injury, resulting in career-worst production across the board. As he enters the free-agent market, though, he'll likely have a number of ideal organizations vying for his services.

Really!?!

I'd be surprised. Seems like the Steelers are really committed to developing, at least at the WR position, through the draft. Unfortunately I could see him heading to someplace like Dallas honestly.

Or Baltimore.

Rams needs a No. 1 WR. this Season to let these Rookies develop.

i thought a healthy Maclin with Hill and Klice would give them a nasty pass attack that would leave D's guessing. seems a little late in the game to make a salary cap cut.

other possible landing spots include the bear and jets. my money is on Baltimore with rams a close 2nd.

Any chance that Maclin just resigns with KC? He is Andy Reid's boi

DesertCheese Sat 6/3/17 9:56 AM

No. Niners (If they clear cap by cutting Bowman) or Rams, Baltimore is set, Bears don't have the cap, Jets could be interesting but not sure they have the cap either. J-Mac is a WR1, he'll want to be paid like one.

Zargyboy Sat 6/3/17 1:41 PM

Oh yeah Jets seem like a good idea since they don't have too many proven options behind Decker (who is in questionable health as-is)

Imthegoat Sat 6/3/17 2:34 PM

Dallas opposite Dez could be interesting too

joegibbskins07 Sat 6/3/17 3:46 PM

how is Baltimore set? perriman is a bust and wallace faded fast as the season wore on.

Assuming a $167,000,000 team salary cap, niners are ranked 1st in cap space, bears rank 7th, jets rank 13th. the ravens couldent sign unless they get real creative as they rank 31st. KC ranked 22nd. Rams ranked LAST. lol.

in truth, any team with creative skills could sign him but i question who will want to pay top dollar at this point after an offseason that saw Ashlon, Garcon, Cooks and DJax make moves prior to the draft. he will get signed but will he get paid like a top 15 wr or a top 35 wr?

johnathon1711 Sat 6/3/17 8:50 PM

Watch the bears try to add him lol

Prash11 Sat 6/3/17 9:53 PM

Lions...

DesertCheese Wed 6/7/17 3:27 PM

Didn't realize Niners had a kmart special roster. Interesting that SF isn't listed as one of his stops, Bills could be a real option, watch them add both Maclin and Decker, lol. (Watkins' foot must be a real issue still)

joegibbskins07 Wed 6/7/17 5:53 PM

watkins whole body seems like a real issue. seems like the guy is always injured. something about the bills inability to draft skill players.

DesertCheese Thu 6/8/17 3:47 AM

Well, they could be the Chargers..

joegibbskins07 Thu 6/8/17 7:08 AM

so the chargers RB, TE's and QB are not draft picks? their WR is a beast but had some real freak injuries, lol. they have had their share of injury plagued skill player drafts but i think the bills are just horrible at skill player drafting across the board. browns and jets easily round out the top 3.
