Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell said the team will evaluate Dobbs' four-game performance at quarterback before naming a starter for Week 14 after a bye week, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
O'Connell mentioned that he debated putting Nick Mullens into Monday's game after Dobbs struggled and threw four interceptions, so the Vikings could be serious about considering a quarterback change. Dobbs would still likely be the favorite to start over Mullens or Jaren Hall, but it doesn't sound like a given.
Dobbs did a great job this yr, considering his situation w/the Cards n Vikes. I mean he came in cold n kicked some ass. Ok, he finally had a bad day. Benching him now, after all he’s done is a mistake that’ll negatively affect his fine attitude. He’s shown that he’s a capable signal caller. I’d take him over Mayfield, Pickett, D.Jones, M.Jones, n some others
He had two bad days in a row and is a backup thrust into a starters role. Not saying he should be benched but saying he will likely get benched for a QB, who is also a backup, that knows the system a lot better to spark a team that is on the verge of making the playoffs.
I would take Mayfield over Dobbs. You have a fair argument about the others but I suspect most of them will be backups after the 2024 draft.
Ur probably right. I look at what Dobbs did for a terrible ARI team, though, n what he came in and did for MIN w/o even knowing the system, n it tells me that they ought to take two rough games in stride n be patient. That other guy knows the system, but if they play him, they’ll lose. Otherwise, they would’ve started him, instead of getting Dobbs n plugging him in immediately, ya know? They’re just trying to light Dobbs’ fire

The other guy was on IR when they brought Dobbs in.
But yeah, Dobbs has a magical moment on the first game.
