Maclin (hamstring) caught six passes for 43 yards on eight targets in Thursday's preseason game against the Steelers.
Maclin was responsible for perhaps the most unusual moment of the night, as he went down with a non-contact injury, but then returned to the field shortly thereafter. He was holding the leg in which he tore an ACL last season, yet showed no signs of being any worse for the wear. Locked in as a starter across from Riley Cooper, Maclin is a decent bet to lead the Eagles' receiving corps in catches and targets, though Nick Foles' attention will likely be spread around. The hamstring that recently bothered Maclin seems fine, and he'll likely sit out the final preseason game.
Watching the video of him going down, it didn't really look like a definite ACL/MCL-type of buckle - it was a brief, very slight hyperextension. His momentum didn't plow THROUGH the extension; instead, he kind of got sprung into the air by the plant & hyperextension. Probably saved him from missing time.
That being said, HOLY CRAP WHAT IS WRONG WITH PHILADELPHIA. He is their ONLY receiver who isn't getting weekly newsletters from the Pennsylvania chapter of the KKK, and he shredded his knee last year. Why in God's name do you push your luck and put him back out there. Why.
