Lattimore's knee problems date back to college, and while the 49ers used a fourth-round pick on him in the 2013 draft, only months after tearing every ligament in his right knee and dislocating his knee cap, he has yet to play a single game for the team after spending the entire 2013 season on the non-football injury list. He has returned to practice recently, albeit in a very limited basis since he is still on the non-football injury list, and with no clear plan to get back on the field, Lattimore appears to have come to the conclusion that he will end his playing career and focus on life after football.
