Josh Freeman has been diagnosed with a concussion. The ongoing saga of the Vikings quarterback mess takes another twist. Freeman is not expected to get cleared in time for Sunday night's game against the Packers, meaning Christian Ponder will start. Ponder was essentially benched in favor of Matt Cassel earlier this year, but has since leapfrogged back into the No. 2 role. He can't play any worse than Freeman did in a humiliating Monday night loss to the Giants (20-of-53 for 190 yards with one interceptions). Ponder did shred the Packers for 234 yards with three touchdowns and no picks in Week 17 last year.

At the end of the season "Free Man" will finally live up to his name.

"Shredding" an already playoff bound Packer team in week 17 is the highlight of Ponder's empty resume.

At least the Packer sideline will not need to spend all their time dodging Freeman's overthrows.

How embarrassing. I love how their coaches "never contemplated benching him for Ponder" and he was concussed the whole game. I still don't get it though, concussed or not how hard is it to hand the ball off to Peterson?

They were stacking the line at first, but later in the game Peterson would have had better opportunities. They are one of the most foolish coaching staffs (not to mention management) in the league! There probably was no concussion at all. It's just an excuse to back off and return to their most efficient QB. Not that he's anywhere near elite, but if Ponder starts to win--Freeman will have PLENTY of time on the bench this season to recover from his"concussion"!

I got a concussion just from watching him play.

Zygi should fire 'em all and start over, maybe when he gets the No. 1 draft pick.

#2 cause the Jags have the #1 pick wrapped up. They will likely match the 0-16 Lions from 2008.
