Free agent Charles Woodson is now willing to join a team in rebuilding mode.
"When this process first started out, I needed to go to a contender," Woodson said Thursday on NFL Network. "I know I am towards the end of my career. At this point, I want to play football. So if it is a rebuilding stage, at this point if that is the circumstances I have to play under, then that is what I am going to do." Woodson is confused by the lack of interest in himself and the other 30-plus-year-old free agents. Some teams that could still use safety help are the Panthers, Browns, Cowboys, Broncos, Chiefs, Vikings, Jets, Chargers, and Rams.
I would love to see the Ravens give Woodson a contract for a year or 2. He could really help in the advancement of the young DBs we have now and get them started on the right path to greatness. He could also provide that veteran leadership that is going to be lacking with the departure of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. I am not sure if I want T-Sizzle being the leader to show these young guys the way to do things. I like Suggs but some of his decision making off the field leaves a lot to be desired. Ngata is probably the best candidate on the roster for the defensive leader role as is. Woodson could really help in this department.
