Eagles placed Jeremy Maclin on injured reserve with a torn right ACL, ending his season. It's the same knee Maclin tore up in college. Maclin has the reputation of being an injury-prone player, but had missed just five games through his first four NFL seasons. The timing for the first major injury of his pro career couldn't be worse, however, as he'll hit the open market this offseason. It's possible he'll be limited to incentive-laden, one-year offers, especially considering the "market correction" that took place this spring. Maclin turned 25 in May. Mediocre talent Riley Cooper is getting the first shot at replacing Maclin in the starting lineup.

"mediocre talent"? how about a little respect for the professional athletes whilst you post information inconspicuously on the internet. there are plenty of talented athletes that don't even set foot in the arena of professional sports, simply making the roster of a professional club requires talent. i think everyone on flea appreciates these news stories as it is good to be up to date on all the league happenings, but please be respectful and refrain from condescendence. stick to the facts anonymous my good man or madam.

LOL! tear it up bid D.

what the writer should have said to clear the air for you was he is mediocre compared to Maclin and many other WR's in the game. the kid has speed but route running and hands leave something to be desired. maybe a 2nd season of playing time will cure some of that.

so is your boy, D McNabb a HoF player or no?

maclin has shown to be the more gifted receiver but that's no reason to lambast mr. cooper, who given his few opportunities last year played pretty well. no player in the nfl is mediocre objectively. i'm tired of seeing internet posts where writers couple facts with personal jabs giving them some credence to the weak mind. it's easy to criticize someone behind a keyboard as you are not usually criticized in return. if these hacks were held accountable for the conjecture they insinuate they wouldn't likely write it in the first place.

and in my personal opinion no, but tis not my decision. i think he could get in down the line, but given the current level of play at the quarterback position i feel many of his statistical accomplishments will be eclipsed, and given that he has never taken a team to the super bowl(too much credit attributed to qb imo) are really the only grounds he has to stand on. what do you think gibbles? he had a stellar year for you folks down in Washington.

I don't really agree that no WR is mediocre in the NFL when being compared to other WR's in the NFL but I do agree that he is better than the other 99% of collage players who never made it into the NFL. but now that he is on the big stage, he is mediocre. where I do agree with you is the writers pretty much suck for the most part around here. personal jabs and all.

McNabb;

he was too fat, too lazy and too bitter to be a stud in DC..... and Minnesota too.

I always respected him as a class act despite being a thorn in my side for years but after joining, flopping and them blaming the redskins for ending his career, the respect went right out the window.

his stats where below many others but he did lead the team into the playoffs many times over but I agree with you, no and I don't think he should be inducted later down the line either.

comparatively there will always be good and "bad" players in any league correlative to the talent level of its populace. but to call any player in the league a "mediocre talent" is not only false but very disrespectful. in the NFL context however, i agree there are players you could refer to as mediocre but at the same time i'd give away one of the family jewels to be in their position.

your assessment of Mcnabb is spot on in my opinion, the way he ended his career definitely soured the public opinion on both his character and playing ability. it's a shame, he would've had a real shot if he was successful in Washington.

I promise you I can get you a tryout at the eagles training camp if you let me take a hatchet to you left nut.

the sad thing with McNabb is not only has be bad mouthed the skins for the last 3 full years on some petty talk show (that no one can find on the radio dial) for "wrecking" his career but he was replaced in favor of Rex Grossman and Ponder. I find that to be as pathetic as it gets.
