Derrick Mason is expected to retire as a Raven Monday. Mason informally announced his retirement back in January, but he's scheduled a news conference with Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome and coach John Harbaugh for Monday afternoon. Mason spent six of his 15 NFL seasons in Baltimore and is the franchise leader in receptions and receiving yards.

I always liked D-Mas when he was with the Ravens. Right up until last season when he thought the grass was greener on the other side. Some of the comments he made about he was signing with the Jets because they had a better chance of winning the Super Bowl kinda pissed me off. If he would have been on the field instead on Lee Evans in the AFC Championship, the Ravens probably would have been in the Super Bowl. He wouldn't have dropped that pass. Granted at his age and ability, he may not have been open either, so that is all woulda-shoulda-coulda. The Ravens would have had a better chance of beating the Giants in the Super Bowl than the Patriots because they actually play defense.

I say let Mason take his greener grass attitude elsewhere and retire with them. He wanted to go to the Jets so bad, let him retire there. Such a stellar career he had with them. He should have taken the pay cut to stay with the Ravens and been happy with it. From my understanding, he took less from the Jets than what the Ravens offered him.

Damn traitor.

he was a good player for the Titan's but he also holds the team record for receptions with the Ravens. He went to retire a few years back but the Ravens convinced him to give it another go. it is sad to see him go the the jets just to find himself watching the Ravens come within a play of the super bowl on TV. thats what you get for skipping town, sucker!
