Coach Mike Munchak reiterated at the start of camp that the Titans plan to decide on a starting quarterback by the third preseason game.
Matt Hasselbeck opened camp with the ones, but Jake Locker is expected to split reps evenly in practices with the incumbent. Locker needs a big August, but he's plenty capable of it. If you combine Locker's 2011 preseason and regular season appearances, he threw six touchdowns compared to one interception and ran for two more scores. He also averaged 7.5 yards per rushing attempt.
Coming away from preseason as the starter would be a major coup for young Mr. Locker. The Titans have their sights set on winning this division, and will want to at least break even on the tough initial schedule onslaught (Patriots, @Chargers, Lions, @Texans). Hasselbeck offers an obvious experience edge, so Locker will have to really show he's ready to do more than hold a clipboard to unseat him out of the gate. But Locker is destined to start several games this year, no question he makes the offense more dangerous at this point.
