Coach Mike McCarthy suggested a lack of practice time contributed to Seneca Wallace's poor relief performance Monday night.
Despite stacked boxes designed to stop Eddie Lacy, Wallace went 11-of-19 for 114 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. In fairness, he didn't even spend training camp with the Packers and has barely gotten any reps since signing just before Week 1. "Seneca, he needs to perform better and he'll definitely do that with a week of practice," said McCarthy. We wouldn't brush Wallace off as a QB2 candidate if he does start in Week 10. The Packers get to face the Eagles at home and this scheme once made Matt Flynn look like Dan Marino.
I don't care what this "Scheme" did for Matt Flynn for one game - I can't imagine what the Packers were thinking in signing Wallace (probably that they'd never have to play him) - he's never thrown for 300yds/ he's a running QB by trade / and a lifetime 50% passer / this is just a pour fit for a backup QB for GB - Chicago got it right - In fact McCown may fit their offense better than Cutler as he doesn't try to force things that aren't there . . . It's Vince Young time - Matt Flynn might know the offense still but his confidence is shot and I don't think he can help himself let alone the Packers. . .
