A source tells ProFootballTalk.com that an appeal hearing on Josh Gordon's case has not been scheduled yet. It's been nearly two months since news of Gordon's third positive drug test as a pro broke. Yet the NFL is in no rush to officially seal the star receiver's fate. Per PFT, there haven't even been any talks on a possible settlement. As a Stage 3 offender, the widespread is belief is that Gordon will end up with a 16-game ban following his appeal hearing. Expect the announcement to come before Browns' camp opens on July 25.

He missed a test not failed one. I'm thinking he is not going to be suspended.

Michakav Tue 6/24/14 4:42 PM

LMAO...Your kidding right?

smellmine Tue 6/24/14 5:02 PM

He failed a test not missed it. He is gone for 2014

sethwoodard Tue 6/24/14 6:12 PM

i also heard that he missed it not failed it... seems like they should act faster if he failed it

Michakav Tue 6/24/14 6:33 PM

A missed test is considered the same as a fail. Especially with his history.

sethwoodard Tue 6/24/14 8:04 PM

sad but true

Michakav Tue 6/24/14 8:16 PM

It is sad. I would have liked to see what he could do with a full season.

They call it dope for a reason!

I traded him in all my non dynasty leagues

HEADHUNTER2525 Tue 6/24/14 9:57 PM

No I'm not kidding. Why would they take this long? I don't think they want to suspend him. The NFL is a business and Manziel will make them money. So you don't take away his best weapon. But I could be wrong.

Yeah something is fishy about why its taken so long for the NFL to make a decision. I also feel like they are trying to find a way not to suspend him for the entire season other wise why wait this long to make a decision?

BaseNote Wed 6/25/14 4:11 PM

I get the sense the NFL is trying to see where public perception is on the issue. They want to see if they can go against their own rules to not take this kid off the field for any longer than they absolutely have to, I believe. Obviously a suspension is inevitable, but the door is now at least cracked open a sliver for him to play 4-8 games this year. Of course, there's still a solid chance he misses more than 16 games...

They are taking a long time with Rice also.

Sucks because he is truly of a special athletic caliber. Like AJ Green is a prolific young WR but he is not the athletic type of guy like Megatron....Gordon is of the Megatron breed....he is a Decepticon!

BaseNote Thu 6/26/14 12:08 PM

Haha Chris, ya nailed it. Green is an elite athlete, but his game is not based in raw, freakish measurables/athleticism. Gordon and Megatron are simply made of different material - energon, I suspect.

Does this make him Starscream then?
